Elmer Keeton February 27, 1934 - January 30, 2004 COLUMBUS, GA - Ret (SFC) Elmer Keeton, 69, of Columbus, died Friday, Jan. 30, at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at McMullen Funeral Home with the Rev. Betty Lou Miller officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held at Fort Benning Main Post Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus. SFC Keeton was born Feb. 27, 1934 in Greenville, Miss., the son of the late Delia Manus Keeton and Edd Keeton. He retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of service having served two tours in Vietnam where he received the bronze star and national defense service medal and Vietnam Service Medal. He was retired from Food Services at Fort Benning, Ga. He was a member of Hamp Stevens United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife Josette Mathieu Keeton of Columbus; two daughters, Linda McCulley of Hogansville, Ga., and Geraldine Sanders and husband Thomas of Marble, N.C.; three sisters, Thelma Abercrombie of Mississippi, Betty Keeton of Shreveport, La., and Lonnie Sanders of Tallassee, Ala.; three brothers, Wesley Keeton, Eddie Keeton, and Avie Dean Keeton all of Mississippi; five grandchildren, Courtney and Megan McCulley, both of Hogansville, Ga., Rachel, Abigail and Carter Sanders, all of Marble, N.C., several nieces and nephews to include a special niece and nephews, Judy Dennis and her sons, Harold and wife Joanne and Terry Dennis.
