Emily Jones Murk February 8, 1927 - August 12, 2005 COLUMBUS, GA — Emily Jones Murk, 78, of Columbus, GA died at Doctors Hospital Friday, August 12, 2005. A celebration of life service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, August 27, 2005 in the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Murk was born February 8, 1927 in Cochran, GA daughter of the late Lloyd Oscar Jones and Carrie Wimberley Jones. During her life she taught school, worked for Archer Mills, and the Columbus Police Department as a Records Room Supervisor. She retired from CB & T now TSYS as a supervisor. One of her greatest joys in life next to her grandchildren was being an avid Braves fan. Mrs. Murk was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Murk. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Hal L. and Cheryl Murk of Sharpsburg, GA; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Butler Bostwick of Jackson, GA, Jane and Keith Cox of Savannah, GA; two brothers and a sister-in-law, L.O. Jones of Brunswick, GA, Britt and Gayle Jones of Merritt Island, FL; two grandchildren, Brian and Erin Murk of Sharpsburg, GA; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Mrs. Murk's memory to, Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Rd., Columbus, GA 31909.
