Phenix City, AL- Grady R. Brown, 83, of Phenix City, AL passed away Sunday afternoon, June 5, 2016 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.
Graveside services will be held 12:00 noon EDT Tuesday (today), June 7, 2016 at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Rev. Alan Griffith officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside service.
Mr. Brown was born October 15, 1932 in Girard, AL to the late Grady H. Brown and Willie Elizabeth Roberts Brown. Mr. Brown was retired from Mead / Westvaco with 28 years of service, he served our country and was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, was a big supporter of Central High School football, and was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, and was a member of North Phenix Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Eric Brown and Gary Brown.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Geraldine Strickland Brown, daughter, Darlene White and husband Allen, two sons, Timothy Brown and wife Denise, and Keith Brown, daughter-in-law, Diana Brown, two brothers, Ronald Brown and wife Suzanne, and Reginald "Ted" Brown and wife Cathy; (7) grandchildren, Jennifer Conner (James), Matthew White (Cassie), Mindy Scheible (Todd), Brittney Granby (Dane), Brandon Brown (Teresa), Dustin Brown (Kristi), and Lindsay Smith (Chad), (11) great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other extended family, and many caring friends, and his beloved pet dogs, Talley, Sofia Rae, and Lola.
