Phenix City, AL- Mr. Harvey L. "Timer" Harris, 71, of 1400 First Place, Phenix City, AL passed Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be 12 Noon EST, Monday, February 11, 2013 at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Noble Williams, officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Visitation is today from 1 - 8 p.m. EST with a family hour from 6 - 7 p.m. EST according to Taylor Funeral Home, Inc.
Mr. Harris was born November 27, 1941 in Phenix City, AL to the late Willie Battle Harris and the late Tom Harris. He retired from Mittal Steel, served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Greater Mt. Zion .
Survivors include his wife, Lula Flagg Harris of Phenix City, AL; four sons, Michael Harris of Montgomery, AL; Kelvin (Shenita) Harris of Phenix City, AL; Sean Harris of Gary, IN and Mark Harris of Lithonia, GA; one daughter, Mia Baker of Covington, GA; two brothers, James (Louis) Harris of Orlando, FL and Tom Harris, Jr. of the Philippines; two sisters, Mary Williams of Gary, IN and Deloris Lee of Jackson, TN; 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. A special thanks to Dr. Jose Canedo and the ALS Association and Herman Moore.

I got to know Brother Harvey Lee Harris when the GMZ men Sunday School class had Bible study at his home. He had such a kindly spirit and was very knowledable of the Bible. It was certainly a joy in getting to know him. May God bless his family and give them strength at this time.

As a member of the Class of 1958, Harvey and I played on the only undefeated(1957/1958) football team of South Girard High School. Harvey will indeed be missed. My condolences to the fanily
