Henry White Obituary

Henry A. White Sr. December 17, 1918 - March 31, 2004 MONTGOMERY, AL - The Rev. Henry A. White Sr., 85, of Montgomery, Ala., formerly of Phenix City, Ala., died Wednesday, March 31, in Alexander City, Ala. Graveside service with military honors will be held 2 p.m. Saturday April 3, at Lakeview Memory Gardens with the Rev. Thomas Raye officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. White was born Dec. 17, 1918 in Jonesberg, Tenn., son of the late Aaron White and Hattie Mann White. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, retiring with the rank of Sergeant First Class after more than 23 years of service. He was the founder of the Mercy Mission in Phenix City and hosted the Mercy Mission Hour on local radio stations. Rev. White assisted in many Phenix City churches and was the former Royer Ranger Leader and Men's Fellowship Leader at the Sandfort Road Assembly of God Church where he also served as president of the food locker. Rev. White was preceded in death by his son, Jerry White. Survivors include his wife, Nelda Baker White of Montgomery; four daughters, Norma Chastain of Lulu, Ga.; Marsha Lovely; Donna Bridge and Pattie Germann, all of Columbus; two sons, Henry White Jr.; David White, both of Columbus; a step-daughter, Cindy Taylor of Montgomery; a goddaughter, Annette Patterson of Phenix City; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
