Columbus, Georgia - Harold Jerome Pate, 70, beloved by God and man and a lifelong resident of Columbus, departed this life January 12, 2022 to be with our Lord forever. Jerome possessed a servant's heart and showed great compassion and joy in all he did.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 22, Edgewood Assembly of God, 2020 Morris Road, Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Jerome, affectionately known as "Big Daddy", was born on August 14, 1951. His parents were Harold Johnson and Gladys Whitley Pate, who preceded him in death along with his brother Edward Johnson Pate and sister Rebecca Pate Hollingsworth.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Faye, and his children Charlie (Kim) Pate and Resa (Andy) Carter, both of Columbus, of whom he was immensely proud. Jerome was blessed with four grandchildren: CJ Pate, of Atlanta, Caiden Pate, United States Marine Corps, Andy Carter, Jr. and Claire Carter. Jerome is also survived by his wife's children Pamela (Greg) Fair, Carmen (David) Arrington, Randall (Theresa) Allen and their families. Born of a large and boisterous family, his siblings left to cherish his memory include Eleanor Roan Shurr, James (Geri) Pate, Susan Pate Schueller, Mike (Irene) Pate, Tommy (Rosemary) Pate and Sister in Law Dayla Pate. Jerome will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and innumerable friends.
Throughout his life, Jerome served with great energy, humility and gratitude. He proudly served the United States Postal Service for over 35 years. He was a Master Mason and past Master of Hamilton Lodge 16. He was devoted to his Masonic Brethren and a trusted and endeared friend to many throughout his years as a Freemason.
