West Point , GA- Jimmie Earl Peters, 75 passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, September 7, 2012 in West Point, GA surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services for Mr. Peters will be held on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 4 P.M. at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home in Columbus, GA with Brother Forrest Youngblood officiating.The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 9, 2012 from 6-8 P.M. Jimmie was born on November 9, 1936 in Coffee County, AL to the late J.D. Peters and Katie B. Kelly. Jimmie was a veteran who proudly served in the National Guard and attended Church of Christ on Warm Springs Road. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mildred Hoover; Pauline Koger; brother James Peters; his son Franklin Peters; and daughter Dorothy Murphy. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Merle Peters; two daughters, Renay Davis (Tommy) of Sylva, NC; Katie Sizemore (Michael) of Ellerslie, GA; four sons Timothy Peters (Laurie) of Tampa, FL; Landel Peters (Kathie) of Pierce, FL; Phillip Peters (Crystal) of Box Springs, GA; Jim Peters of Mauk, GA; sister Joann Skinner (Emmette) of Chanclor, AL; three brothers Bill Peters (Faye) of Elba, AL; Bob Peters of Elba, AL; Lonnie Ray Peters of Ft. Pierce, FL; 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.Jimmie spent the last 2 years of his life devoting his time and care to his precious granddaughter Lyndee.Jimmie was a loving and devoted husband, father,grandfather,great-grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Flowers will be accepted by the family but for those who choose, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
