Cataula, GA- Lenora Marion Smith, 65, of Cataula, Georgia, passed away in her home on August 3, 2018. A Memorial Service will be conducted in the chapel of the Charles E. Huff's International Funeral Home, Inc. located at 927, 5th Avenue, Columbus at 1:00PM, Saturday, August 11, 2018.
Lenora was born in San Antonio, Texas to Son and Daisy Smith on November 5, 1952. Lenora was affectionately nicknamed "Tootsie" by her parents, and the name stuck her whole life. She originally moved to Georgia with her family in 1960, when her father was stationed at Fort Benning. She graduated from Hallie Turner Private School in 1975, and received an Associates Degree in Computer Programming at Phillips Junior College in 1993.
She was a retired employee of the Columbus Consolidated Government where she worked for 18 years. During her tenure with the city government, she resided on numerous boards and committees. She was one of several city employees responsible for the creation of the Resting Garden on Sixth Street in 2014. Lenora was a Real Estate Technician, then a CDBG Community Reinvestment Technician with the Columbus Consolidated Government from 1994 to 2013.
Lenora was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves behind her daughter, Matilda Smith-Thompson (Eric), Champaign, Illinois; her beloved dog, Lizzy Smith; her cousins, Bernadette Winston, Wilmington, Delaware and Lisa Griggs-Taylor (Angelo), Atlanta, Georgia; her aunt, Ruby Van Dyke, Emeryville, California and her chosen family of beloved friends.

I was so very sad to hear that my friend Lenora S Smith had passed away. My prayers and condolences are with the family. She was a wonderful person. We always had a great laughing session every time we spoke. She will be greatly missed.
