Nookie Meadows was one of kind. A great person to do business with and I will never forget how honest and trusting he was. I brought my family and many friends to his dealership, and they all became friends of Nookie for life. My condolences and prayers to the family.

Dear Family,

Our grief today is but a reflection of our past. The years of happiness and other experiences together are the basis for our grief today in the loss of Uncle Nookie. As I'm flooded with family memories, I share but a few.

The story of my first day. On the day "Mama" found out she was pregnant with me, it just happened to be the same day Uncle Nookie called her to handle "The Books."

Videos of us as children on the "Long White Couch."

Ginger standing on the deck watching over me in the pool, and feeling safe with her there.

Holding Penny on the Green Vinyl Couch at the funeral home when Donald passed away. Then many days in the boat on Lick Skillet. And Spain none the less.

Piper's first baby sitting job, or at least my first. And thinking of the complete circle of life every time Tyre ran in to get the gas key and jumped in my arms.

The picture of Robin and Chet and Allison and I as kids at a birthday party in the trailer in Ma Meadows back yard.

Going home with Alexa for a hamburger at lunch with Eddie in a high chair.

Many joyous Christmas Eve's with Meadows tradition, Engagement Rings, and Satch's "Milkman Story."

The opportunity to grow up and work in the dealership, thanks to Nookie, and the experience that it still provides every day of my career.

How Nookie knew I ran a stop sign at lunch and getting called down on it 20 minutes after getting back to the dealership.

Having to explain to Nookie that the dent in the truck wasn't Chet's fault, but the cows at the farm did it.

Having to tell Nookie that Earl had just died, and holding him in grief.

The wedding reception for Dawn and I by the pool - the happiest time of my life.

Falling into the arms of Penny, Piper, and Robin in our kitchen when I walked in the door the day Mama died. And wishing I were with you tonight.

Finally, in knowing that Nookie and Dot and Earl are together in heaven tonight, wanting all of us to carry on.

We love you all and wish we were there with you tonight and tomorrow.

Love keeps no record of wrongs (1 Corinthians 13:5). This scripture gives us a portrait of divine love, and every time we see one of these qualities in a human being, we are seeing a bit more of God. Family, friends, people we work with, they come into every life, and mirror the love of God. Nookie came into my life when I became his secretary his first term as a state legislator. We taught each other how to help people, not only in the district, or at the car dealership, but around the globe. He was as Christ was, he was no respecter of persons. He was no ordinary man. He may have been small in statute, but big in heart. I got an opportunity to really, really, know he and his family well and I know that he will get his rest now and his living has not been in vain. He was as close to a dad as I could get and I would have been proud to be one of the girls. He wore many hats and had fun wearing them. It was a joy to see him in one of his "happy" moods. You couldn't help, but love him. May God give you all comfort, but just know that we can't see Jesus Christ if we don't close our eyes here on earth. I loved Nookie and I love each of you.

Nookie never met a stranger.

He touched the lives of so many people in a positive way. We need more people like him. It was my pleasure to serve with him on the Roosevelt Institute Foundation Board and in the Georgia House of Representatives.
