Lewis Dawson Obituary
Lewis Dawson, affectionately known as Sonny, Shane, and Shame Face by family, friends, and classmates, was born on October 31, 1943, in Columbus, Georgia, to Louis Dawson and Queen Ester Browder Dawson.
He attended the Muscogee County School System and was a 1962 graduate of Spencer High School, proudly supporting the "Go Green Waves" in Columbus, Georgia. Lewis worked at the Mead Westvaco Paper Mill until his retirement. He dedicated his life to Jesus Christ at a young age and was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Queen Ester Browder Dawson; his brother, Eddie Dawson; and his nephew, Bernard Still.
He leaves to cherish his memory three sons: Terrence, Damien Raphael, and Adrian; three sisters: Catherine Still, Phoebe Dawson, and Julia "Tina" (Mathew) Dawson Griswould; several grandchildren; two nephews, Frank B. Still and Mathew (Kerin) Griswould II; one niece, Elizabeth (Phillip) D. Kinds; two great-nieces; and a large extended family of Browders and friends. He is also survived by several special friends and two goddaughters, Tara Johnson and Tamishsa Toson. Lewis would tell each of you: "Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I'm following the path God has chosen for me."
