Mary Hammack Obituary

Mary Ellen Peak Hammack March 23, 1942 - May 15, 2005 ARLINGTON, GA — Mary Ellen Peak Hammack , 63, of 29911 Hwy. 62, Arlington, died Sunday, May 15 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 18 at Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Flinn Gregory and the Rev. Jackie Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery, according to Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home, Inc., Blakely, Ga. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be John Glass, William Bonner, Jack Brooks, Ray Wood, Lamar Houston and Jackie Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert (Bobby) Peak, Emmett (Sammy) Peak, Jimmy Wilkerson, Joe Holden and Dewey Parkman. Mrs. Hammack was born March 23, 1942 in Clay County, Ga., the daughter of the late Thomas Earl Peak and Gussie Ree Cleney Peak of Edison, Ga. She was a retired Bookkeeper and a member of Salem Baptist Church. Most of her life was lived in Muscogee County, but the past four years she lived in Calhoun County. Survivors other than her mother include her husband, Guy A. Hammack of Arlington; a son and his wife, Keith & Sheryl Porter of Columbus; two step sons and their wives, Sonny & Vicki Potts of Cusseta, Ga., and Tommy & Jill Potts of New Jersey; a step daughter, Debbie Potts of Palmetto, Ga..; a sister and her husband, Dorothy & Billy Hardwick of Ft. Gaines, Ga.; two brothers and their wives, Bobby and Sheila Peak of Arlington and Sonny & Sue Peak of Albany, Ga.; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Albany Community Hospice (2332 Lake Park Drive, Albany, GA 31707).
