Please know that just as your loved one remains in your hearts and minds; his sacrifice, and that of your family, remains with the people he died defending. I just found out about Matts' passing. I went to AIT with him at Aberdeen, MD. He and I were in the same class. I will always remeber Matt for making everyone in the class laugh. He is and will be missed! It breaks my heart more and more each time I hear of a passing of one of my classmates. May god keep you in his sights, and may Matt never be forgotten. To the family of a hero. I stand with you at this time of grief and sorrow as I send support to you and your family. The world is both a lesser and greater place because of the service of your loved one. Becacuse of him many of people will live a better life than the day prior. Many children will learn of the great things he and his fellow heroes have done during history classes in open schools where one can express themselves. They will be helped in Hospitals where anyone can be cared for. The people will learn to enjoy the freedoms which many in history have given their lives for. I thank you for allowing your loved one to serve with me and my brothers and sisters on the field of battle. "I am not a hero, but I have seen many".

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Matthew, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

It is with all my RESPECT that I honor this soldier who gave his all, his love, his life for me, my family, and our awesome country. Let it be said that there is no greater love than a man lay down his life for his friends -- God said it. I believe it and say it again in honor of Matthew. Psalms 34:18 reminds us that God is especially near to those with a broken heart, much like this family that has given the gift of their son for us, exactly like God gave his own for them. Thank you Matthew, I know you are resting in God's arms this day... rest weary soldier, rest. Love and RESPECT. Liz ><>

April 27, 2008

Dear Glenn, Lisa and family, We just returned from Fla. this past friday April 24th, and on this sad day April 26th Jackie Thomas forwarded us your son Matt's remembrance page. I now know why we had the phone message from you and your interest in contacting Cameron who had been friends with Matt when they were young. Truly I cry as I think of you and remember you as our neighbors and friends. I think of all of our chats and converstions out in front of our respective houses, your moms visits from Texas, and your sweet kids. We always enjoyed your children and we were so glad that you lived accross the street. If you will remember I tried very hard to talk you out of moving, and couldn't really believe that you wanted to leave us here on Gelston Circle. Since you haven't been in our mist it is hard in some ways to believe that Matt could be 23. It is also hard to believe that who we remember as such a nice young man, should have paid such a precious price as an adult. We can only say that we miss all of you and that we are so sorry for your loss and the sorrow that you must be feeling. Your Friends, Bruce and Donna Berlage

April 27, 2008

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Oh how precious are those years when we get to hold them in our arms, knowing how safe they really are at that moment. Remembering those times are never old in a mothers heart. My heart goes out to you and your husband. What an honor to have your son follow in your footsteps sir. Obviously he was very proud of who his dad is. I am a mother of 3 and my heart just breaks for you and your family. I know his siblings are broken hearted as well. I pray for peace to surround your hearts and home today. I am SINCERELY grateful for Mr. Morris laying down his own life so that my family and all Americans can live ours. So grateful. Thank you for raising a self-less young man. He is truly a hero. Every soldier who offers their life and freedom for the life and freedoms of others is. God bless you abundantly. Keep his the memories alive and remember you will see him again sooner than you think. And its ok to grieve as long as you need to but its also ok to let the sun shine in your day. ...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart

i served as his first line supervisor since we both were assigned to 3rd acr in fort hood. he was one of my most bright and hard working soldiers. his loss, though it is painful, will not be in vane. i saw him more as a brother and friend than i did as a soldier. i will miss all the good times we shared, all the inside jokes we had but at the same time i am thankful for all the great memories that i will never forget. there will be no other soldier i can say that i will have as much working with than i did with him. im sorry for not being able to bring you back home brother... you were awesome!

I did not know Matthew but by reading all the messages from all the other people that have signed in his guestbook, he was a wonderful person. He was truly loved by family, friends and even strangers that did not know him but knew of him. You as parents, must be so proud to know all the love that Matthew gave and received in his short life. God had a special mission for for your son. We will never understand any of the reasons why things happen, we just need to learn to accept them and rely on God's grace to get us through it. Your son gave his life for me and my family so we could continue to live in a country that is free. I am so grateful to him and all the soldiers that have given their lives for us. Matthew is a hero, always remember that.

From the colonist, who rebelled,
to the soldier of today,
My thanks, be to you,
I know not what else to say.

Since the words I do not have,
to give the tribute that is due,
So a simple heartfelt thanks,
sincerely I give to you.

Thanks to our American heroes,
whose devotion is second to none,
Whose courage and braveness alone
caused many battles to be won.

We have beaten the forces of evil
and carried our flag far and wide,
Because of our American Warriors,
our hearts are filled with pride,

Only because of you and the price
you willingly did pay,
Only because of you,
Old Glory still flies today!

My prayers are with you and your family.

Another Fallen Hero ~

My heart breaks as I sign another guestbook of such a courageous soldier who gave his life so selflessly. May he rest in peace knowing that he is loved and remembered by those who knew him. From one military family to another, we know the pain you feel, we understand what you are experiencing and feeling. No amount of words can ease the pain of our loss and we know first hand, there are no words of comfort at this time. We lost our only son 9-3-2004 at the age of 19 and it fells like yesterday. Just know that there are families across the USA who is experiencing your loss and pain. We will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. Our sons grew up, chose to serve our country and in that moment became a hero, a patriot. Their legacy will remain as such.

May God grant you peace, strength and comfort in such a difficult time. My prayers and deepest condolences go out to the entire family.

I still fly my Marine flag and have my Marine tag and sticker on my vehicles because I am PROUD of my SON and DAUGHTER, and all the SERVICE MEN and WOMEN out there. We will always be a MARINE. We are proud of you all.

My husband was one of the soldiers at attention when they brought Matt home. He called me immediately after to tell me the news. We took a moment of silence, and then my husband started talking about how amazing this family is. He said as they stood at attention, when the family was brought they looked over at them blew a kiss and said thank you.

Your son grew up, chose to serve our country and in that moment became a hero, a patriot. His legacy will remain as such.

Laura, my heart pains for you. I only hope that the tears others cry on your behalf will lighten the load on your heart. Hold those memories close, tell everyone about the man you love. It takes a special woman to be a soldier's girl.

Thought I didn't know your son, I am grateful for him and the others who have and are serving our country.

God Bless you and your family during this time and hope that you find comfort with family and friends surrounding you.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor
traits/homepage,
where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.
