Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this holiday season and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Patrick S. Tainsh US Army Sergeant.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

I remember serving with you. E-Troop 2/2 ACR. I was in HHT 2/2 ACR and worked in the S-1 shop. You would come in regularly with awards and such for us to work on, pick up the mail for your squadron, chat it up a bit. I am sorry we never hung out on our down time more. I heard you bravely gave your life to save others. That seems just like you. Never thought the outcome would be so devastating to be honest. I got out a little over a month before you passed. Never thought for a moment that I would have lost a friend when I left. Knowing you has been an honor, and I look forward to seeing you when the time comes. Toujours Pret!! Good morning Dude! Today is the 12th and the most difficult for me because that was the date dad and I learned of your transition to higher ground. You know we miss your physical presence more than an earthly heart can express, but we know that you and your comrades wait patiently just beyond the veil. I'm sure you enjoy visiting with your birth mom. I hope she doesn't mind all I've tried to do to help your dad keep the memory of you and your buddies alive and well. Chris K sent a message. What a friend to you and now us. We love him so! Thank you for sending him and continuing to send the hawk our way. I placed the fresh arrangement at Benning yesterday which I'm sure you watched while my friend Bev & I were there. How about the balloon that got caught in the tree for a few! Anyway, we love and miss your smiling face and "whatevers!" Just keep helping me keep your dad straight! You know he's still a handful! You and your comrades will never be forgotten as long as we can press forward to share your stories with others. Until we meet again...All our love...Deb & Dad

Sgt Tanish,
God Bless you and your family for giving more than most men will ever know for thier country. I remember you when you were just a private in my squad. You were always doing the right thing. You were my Top driver and then Gunner. Remember when you went to pldc SGT wetzel and i dropped you off . those were great days. The time someone drove your car into the barricks. You were always the first to volunteer for any duty. Patrick I have and always will respect you for who you are and what you have done for Me and my Family.

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Over 1,800 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Patrick, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Dear Dave and Deborah,

I'm thinking about you being that today would have been Patrick's 38th birthday. I hope you find some comfort in knowing that I care about you. I know the loss you have endured. Nothing can bring Patrick back, he can only live on through his family and friends who knew him well. Although I never actually met Patrick, I feel I know the man he was through my friendship with both of you.
God Bless you, God Bless America, God Bless us all,

Happy Birthday dude! Mind boggling to believe that you would be 38 today. Your dad and I were wondering what rank you'd be today. We will always be proud of you and we will always miss your physical presence. We will go to the beach later this evening and let go some balloons and have a shot of Jager. We'll look at the stars and the sea and know you are part of it all in perfect form. Although our earthly family will never feel complete with your absence. The clock stopped when you left and its so difficult not knowing what you'd look like now or what you'd be doing, although we're sure you'd still be loving your life in the U.S. Army. We miss sharing seafood and sushi with you and hearing you and Phil joke around. But you are never out of our minds eye and thoughts. How often do we think of you? Every second. We love and miss you. Happy Birthday "Forever Young."

It is difficult to know what to say since I want to express my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Sgt Tainsh. Please know that your loved one is not forgotten. I wish everyone impacted by this tragic loss strength and peace. I hope that Sgt Tainsh knew that there are people who respect his great courage in serving as a member of the US military. Although I did not know him, I know that he must have been a very special person to be willing to do something that most Americans will never have to experience, and for that we can never say thank you enough.
Thank you Sgt Tainsh!

I have just learned of the death of Sergeant Patrick S. Tainsh. As the State Chaplain of the Georgia Sons Of The American Revolution, I speak for our President, Charlie A. Newcomer, III and more than 1,400 SAR members around the State of Georgia in humbly expressing the condolences of a grateful Society. Wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, your American hero stood on a wall of freedom for us all. His life and his love of country epitomized every attribute of patriotism the Sons Of The American Revolution hold dear. And, as Americans, we could never repay the debt we owe him ..!! Nor the debt we owe you… his family!!!

OutSide The Windows
By: Deborah Tainsh 3/04
In memory of Sgt. Patrick Tainsh,
our son & hero
8-25-70 - 2/11/04

We watch out the windows, your dad and I,
wanting your easy walk towards the house
your hand to wrap around the brass knob.
Instead we see the chaplain’s footprints
we have not been able to scrub from the concrete,
his knuckle prints branded against the door.

Any moment now we will break
through the matrix, reach you,
and pull you back into the kitchen where you’ll
show us the proper way to prepare the scallops.

You chose to trade-in your surf board and snowboard
for what you said was something
that would make a difference.

The last time you spoke with your brother
you said, “Don’t thank me, it’s my job.”
You always told your dad and me, “Don’t Worry.”

You climbed in rank faster than most
to reach sergeant; lead and taught those
drawn to you like apostles.

On top of the TV we keep the photo of you in
helmet and flack jacket with Iraqi children.
You believed them worth the fight.
You mourned their poverty.

Once defiant, later than most, you followed
steps of your father now accepting with
bitter-sweet pride your folded flag,
Cavalry Stetson, silver saber, and bootless spurs.

The Purple Heart, Bronze, and Silver Stars carry
the message we want the world to know about You.

We have been reminded, your dad and I, that
God’s son began his service at age thirty and at thirty-three
sacrificed himself for human kind.
What coincidence…

In our search we know you dwell in sixty-foot
waves from the North Shore to Australia,
the rain and breeze against the lighthouse chimes.
And outside the family room on a branch of the great oak
you dwell in the noble
heart of the hawk
watching through the window our gradual steps
moving beyond the chaplain’s footprints,
his knuckle prints branded against the door.

Pat,we love you. And our book, Heart of a Hawk, about your life & sacrifice is inspiring others. You're awesome.

Hey buddy,
Well here it is August 25,2007, your 37th birthday. First, you know we miss you so much. Our family and lives will never be the same. We do all we can to keep our spirits up and to support your military family and comrades since you "transferred" to the higher call. We know you'd want us to do that and to keep living, loving, and laughing. It's so difficult without your surly, laid back surfer dude turned soldier personality to laugh out loud with us, to see you, Phil, and Sandy laughing and being silly, which brought such joy to our hearts. Anyway, its a beautiful day today, full of sunshine. I'll go have some California rolls today for both of us. Your dad and I are going to hang out this evening at an event where our troops and military families will be honored. It's a festival of sorts with bands, food, and fun then a midnight run. In between there will be a live transmission for local military families to talk with family in Iraq. We'll be there with your book. You're a true hero and inspiration to so many others. Just keep sending the strength our way to complete our mission as bravely and valiantly as you did. Oh, and take care of the two Brandons and Ben while they're in Iraq. You know who I'm talking about. Anyway, just wanted to say 'Happy Birthday Dude.' We're so proud of you, love and miss you. But we will see you on the high ground. Love, Dad and Deb

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

My son Spc. Matthew John Holley is also with you now as a fallen warrior of OIF.

I hope you are swapping some good stories and having a blast with your other brothers and sisters in arms.

Your parents are first class people and love you very much.

You overcame so much to become the person you did and I am proud of you.
