Rebecca Lynn Weed
November 11, 2025
Parkersburg, West Virginia - Rebecca "Becky" Lynn Weed completed her earthly journey on November 11, 2025, after an arduous battle with lung cancer. Her unwavering faith ensures that she now rests in Heaven with friends, family, and pets once lost.
Becky's tenacity can only be described as unrelenting and was only exceeded by what many might call her trademark obstinance. Indeed, she would work two, sometimes three, jobs to take care of her sons, Christopher and Nathan, as they stumbled their way through high school. It is important to know that she made countless sacrifices in her own life to ensure her sons had every opportunity to succeed. Her constant rejection of failure is an attribute that will persist in both of her sons.
After giving her boys a good start to life, she pursued a secondary education of her own. She attained a bachelor's degree in education (with a mathematics specialty). She would later attain a master's degree in education in school counseling while fearlessly teaching 7th and 8th grade students the many wonders of the mathematical world.
It is indisputable that her favorite duty was being Mim to her grandchildren: Vidal, Harris, Olive, Nora, and Conrad. Her love for them remains immeasurable with words, and they will forever carry that love with them over the course of their own lives. Witnessing her operate in this capacity oftentimes served as a clinic on active grandparenting.
In addition to spending time with her grandchildren, Becky loved making every trip to the beach that would fit into her schedule. Of course, her love of all things Crimson Tide cannot be overstated-even after her two sons received degrees from Auburn University.
Most notably, Becky's faith was the cornerstone of her life. Her faith would guide her through every choice, task, joy, and challenge. She found her greatest strength in prayer and her peace in God's promises, even in the most tumultuous of times. She would agree that her greatest achievement was instilling the importance of this faith and relationship with Jesus in her sons. This faith now functions as a subtext to their own lives.
Becky is survived by her sons, Christopher (Amy) and Nathan (Hannah) Nahley; her aforementioned grandchildren, Vidal, Harris, Olive, Nora, and Conrad; her mother and stepfather, Sonja and Jerry Morgan, respectively; her siblings, Alan (Ann) Weed, Denise (Chuck) Livsey, and Joanna (Brian) Dietzman; and seven nephews.
Becky is preceded in death by her father, Donald Weed. The outpouring of love and support from our friends and family has been a profound comfort during this difficult time and certainly helped carry us through these tough days. Each act of kindness, prayer, and word of encouragement reminds us that we are surrounded by a uniquely exceptional community.
An additional thanks to those members of the Amedisys team who helped guide the family through the final days of care.
"The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled." - Plutarch
Becky lit countless flames in her students that will continue to brightly shine in her memory. She will be greatly missed by so many.
