Columbus, GA- Ricky "DP" Jones, 64, of Columbus, GA died Friday, January 2, 2015 at his residence.
Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday January 7, 2014 at The Fort Church, 1608 14th Court, Phenix City, AL 36869 with Pastor Adam Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at 68 Redwood Drive, Phenix City, AL 36869.
Mr. Jones was born October 11, 1950 in Columbus, GA, son of the late William F. Jones and Betty Mae Jones. He retired from Norfolk Southern as an Engineer. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and also coached B and C ball for Pioneer Little League.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy Jones and Jerry Wayne Jones.
Survivors include his son, Todd Jones (Candice) of Phenix City, AL, grandchildren, Riley Jones and Jordan Jones of Columbus, GA, and Justin Jones of Phenix City, AL, brothers, Larry Jones (Joyce) of Columbus, GA, Louis Jones (Angela) of Phenix City, AL, and Ronnie Jones (Sharon) of Phenix City, AL, best friends, Mitchell Norris and Wayne Bates, his beloved four legged friend, Karma, numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions may be sent to The Fort Church, 1608 14th Court, Phenix City, AL 36869

My heartfelt sympathy extended to each and everyone affected by this sad occasion. D.P. was a great friend that i worked with many years ago on the central of ga. R.R.I have not seen DP for many years but i will always remember his casual attitude and he always had a big smile or grin on his face.Lord, please comfort everyone during this sad occasion and help to ease our broken hearts.

My Uncle Ricky was a great man and will be greatly missed. There is again a great missing link now with the "Jones Brothers", but I can smile because I know Uncle Rick is in Heaven with Granny, PawPaw Bill and Uncle Tommy. What a joyous reunion!
