Smiths Station, AL- Robert (Bob) Paul Morin, Sr., 76 of Smiths Station, Alabama, passed away early Thursday morning, November 28, 2013 at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital in Phenix City, AL.
He was born to the late Peter Paul and Agnes Baumgartner Morin, April 12, 1937 in Belcourt, ND. Bob served in the Army from 1956 to 1958. On December 31, 1957, he married Sophie Dorothea Kraus of Brebersdorf, Germany. They lived in North Dakota, Minnesota, Germany, and finally Alabama.
Bob retired from self-employment after 27 years as "Bob" of Bob's Mobile Home Service. He was a faithful member of Mother Mary Catholic Church in Phenix City, AL and a member of Knights of Columbus Council 13415, also of Phenix City. Bob was avid gardener, planting vegetables year-round and always sharing the bounty of his garden with friends, family, doctors, and neighbors. He took pride in his garden and its yield until his very last day.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of nearly 56 years, Sophie D. Morin. He is also survived by his six children, Nancy Claridy McCormick (Thomas); Roberta McConnell (Jeff); Carl Morin; Dorthy Champion (Jerry); Ramona Ortiz (Jay); and Robert P. Morin, Jr. He also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren: Keith R. Claridy; Brittney Fodor; Carmen and Carly Bensvega; AJ Adrianna, and Khloe Ortiz; Melissa and Madison Champion; Zach Weekly; Brooklyn Williams; Trip, Brantley, Bryce, and Sophia Morin. Also included are five brothers, two sisters, numerous other relatives and many, many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the Lazarus Society of Phenix City, c/o Father Tom Weise or Hospice Advantage of EAMC of East Alabama.
Visitation will be held this evening (Sunday) from 5:30 to 8:00 pm EST at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City. Funeral mass will be celebrated with Military Honors 11:00 am EST Monday, December 2, 2013 at Mother Mary Mission Catholic Church in Phenix City. The family will also receive guest after the service in the church cafeteria.

Dorthy and Family,
It has been many years since I have seen you all, but have not forgotten any of you or the fond memories Dorthy and I made during our high school years. One thing I remember about visiting your house was the garden and beautiful flowers your dad and mom always had planted. I am so sorry for the loss of your dad and pray that God comforts you during this time.

Many knew this kind hearted man who loved his wife and family. I was previledged to be one of them. He and family made our life in Georgia so far from family easier by accepting us as their family. I'm so glad we say goodbye for now BUT not for long, since I know
