Roy Henry Mercer, Jr. June 22, 1943 - November 25, 2009 EUFAULA, AL — Roy Henry Mercer, Jr., 66, of Eufaula, Alabama, former resident of Cuthbert, Georgia, died November 25, 2009 at VistaCare Hospice in Columbus. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2009 in East View Cemetery in Cuthbert with Rev. Scott Tucker officiating. The family will receive friends today, Friday, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lunsford Funeral Home in Cuthbert, GA. Mr. Mercer was born June 22, 1943 in Cuthbert, Georgia, son of the late Roy Henry Mercer and Sara Roberts Mercer. He was the retired owner of Mercer Oil Company of Cuthbert, was a former City Counselor of Cuthbert, and served as Mayor of Cuthbert from 1973 - 1976. Mr. Mercer was a Methodist and attended Andrew College and Valdosta State College. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Jessica Cowart Mercer of Eufaula, AL; son, Roy Henry Mercer, III and wife, Marissa of Eufaula, AL; two daughters and their husbands, Kellie Mercer Dunn and Bill of Cuthbert, GA and Gina Mercer Squires and Berkley of Homewood, AL; and three grandchildren, Macy, Jarrett and Sloan Squires.
