Rozier Dedwylder Obituary

Rozier Tyrone Dedwylder September 25, 1922- February 25, 2006 COLUMBUS, GA— Rozier Tyrone Dedwylder, 83, of Columbus, GA died at Doctors Hospital on Saturday, February 25, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at Trinity Episcopal Church with Father Rich Martindale officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road. The family will receive friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. John Dedwylder. Mr. Dedwylder was born September 25, 1922, in Cleveland, MS, son of the late Dr. Rosier Davis Dedwylder and Ruby Tyrone Dedwylder. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech where he earned a degree in Architecture. Mr. Dedwylder was a partner in Pound, Flowers and Dedwylder Architects. He was a WWII veteran serving in the U. S. Navy as a Lieutenant in the South Pacific Theater. Mr. Dedwylder was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity and was the founding President of Uptown Columbus. He was also active in many other local civic organizations and activities that are too numerous to name here. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Martha Richards Dedwylder of Columbus, GA; two sons, John Dedwylder and his wife, Bitsy of Columbus, GA, and Dr. Rosier Davis Dedwylder II, M.D., of King George, VA; two grandchildren, John Davis Dedwylder and Elizabeth Rivers Dedwylder. He was a great man.My four brothers and I had great memories playing at his house on the backwaters and riding (hanging)on the cable pulley.
