Phenix City, AL- Shirley Ann Elkins Yancey, 72 of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully early Friday morning, November 14, 2014 while at her home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am EST Monday, November 17, 2014 at Lakewood Baptist Church with Rev. M. R. Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens and the family received friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.
Mrs. Yancey was born August 5, 1942 in Phenix City, AL to the late Roy Elkins and Dorothy Mae Griggs Elkins. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was deeply devoted to her family. She enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, traveling, and watching her humming birds, and attending Lakewood Baptist Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Charles R. Yancey of Phenix City, AL, one daughter, Diane Bush and husband Scott of Phenix City, AL, one son, Allen Yancey and wife Kathy of Abilene, TX, two sisters, Pat Montgomery and husband Richard, and Barbara Churchwell and husband Jeff, both of Salem, AL, one brother, Bruce Elkins and wife Leah of Homer, AK.
(6) Grandchildren, Lauren Ny (Sam), Kathryn Paul (TJ), Matthew Bush, Crystal White, Ethan Yancey, and Kevin Yancey; (5) great grandchildren, Kaylen, Lucas, Addison, Clayton, and Shayla, several nieces, nephews, numerous other loving family members and many caring friends.
