Sjacquita Johnson Obituary
September 13, 1970 - June 21, 2021
Columbus, Georgia - Miss Sjacquita E. Johnson passed away Monday at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center at the age of 50. A native of Columbus and the daughter of the late Sandra Johnson Wansley and the late John W. Townsend Jr, Sjacquita was a 1988 graduate of George Washington Carver High School and received her B.S. Degree from the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. She was a devout member of Rosehill Memorial Baptist Church where she was the Minister of Music and Church Pianist. A renown Pianist and Gospel singer along with her late mother, Sjacquita also served as Minister of Music at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and held memberships with the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses and the famed Columbus Community Gospel Choir. Sjacquita was employed as a Senior Claims Analyst at AFLAC, Inc.
Surviving are her siblings, Juanita Williams-Kendall (Zerrick), Jared Strickland (Nancy), Szandrique Johnson (Tamera), Syberik Johnson and John W. Townsend III; maternal grandmother, Bessie Johnson; one uncle, Gary Johnson(Jackie); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Sjacquita will be laid to rest at Green Acres Cemetery on Saturday, June 26, 2021 following a One O'clock PM Homegoing Celebration in the sanctuary of Rosehill Memorial Baptist Church. Pastor Alonza Whitaker will be eulogist and Pastor Chad D. Bryant will be the officiate. Visitation is 4:00 til 6:00 P.M. today at the funeral home. My Condolences and prayers for the Johnson family and friends. A heartbreaking loss for the family and the church. I love to hear her sing and play the piano just like her mother. All Sandra children have a gift to sing. Sjacquita is in that heavenly choir singing for the Lord!
