Midland, GA- Mrs. Victoria Theresa Broussard Allen, 68, of Midland, GA died on Monday, November 5, 2018 at her residence. Memorial services for Mrs. Allen will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at St. Mary's United Methodist Church, Rev. Dr. L. K. Pendleton officiating.
Mrs. Victoria Theresa Broussard Allen was born on September 28, 1950 to Bertrand Brossard and Marion Johnson Brossard in New Orleans, LA. She was educated in the public school systems of Orleans Parrish and went on to graduate from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Science degree. While in Atlanta, Victoria worked as a Human Resources specialist at Prudential and retired after 20 years. Victoria moved to Columbus, married her husband, Judge John D. Allen and worked as an AVP in Human Resources at Synovus Corporation and later retired. She was very active in the Columbus community serving for ten years on the Board of Directors of New Horizons Mental Health Area Agency and served as the Board chairperson for a few years. Victoria also helped organize the "Working Closet" which provided clothing of all type for women transitioning from welfare to work and from the Battered Women's Shelter. Victoria was also a Page One judge for more than ten years, she also served on many other committees, all of which earned her the recognition by the Girl Scouts of America as a "Woman of Distinction."
Victoria is survived by her husband, John D. Allen, Senior Superior Court Judge; one son, Kevin T. Thomas; one granddaughter, Luna-Leigh Victoria Thomas; two step-sons, John Allen, Jr. and Geoffrey Allen; two step-grandchildren, John D. Allen, III, Carson D. Allen; one sister, Carmen Broussard, New Orleans, LA; two brothers, Bertrand Broussard, New Orleans, LA and Arnold Broussard (Lorie), Lake Worth, FL; five sisters-in-law, Emma Ezekiel, Elizabeth Jones, Virginia Farnum, Linda Thompson (Oscar), Rose Allen; a host of nephews and nieces and devoted life-long friends.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Mary's United Road United Methodist Church or John B. Amos Cancer Center, Columbus, GA.
