Columbus, GA- Wayne Ross Lumpkin, 65, of Columbus, GA passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Columbus Hospice. A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Monday, January 18, 2016 at Evangel Temple. The family will receive friends after the service.
Mr. Lumpkin, son of the late Mattie Mae and Sidney Lumpkin, was born September 11, 1950 in Columbus, GA. He was a supervisor at Columbus Mills, Inc. for 39 years. Mr. Lumpkin was a member at Evangel Temple. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, bowling, playing sports and telling jokes. He enjoyed listening to the Music Channel and working on old cars.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Johnny Wayne Lumpkin and grandson Zachary Preston Kinsman. Mr. Lumpkin is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Jan Lumpkin of Columbus, GA; children Jeannie Christine Clark (Rodney) of Waverly Hall, GA., Jamie Allison Lumpkin of Columbus, GA., and Ronnie Stokes, Jr. (Amber) of Columbus, GA; grandchildren Nick McDonald, Josh McDonald, Brandon Eric Welch, Kody Phillips (Jennifer), Kalob Kinsman, Chelsea Kinsman, Georgia Stokes and Auburn Stokes; great grandchildren Cayden, Little Nicholas, Hunter, Abigail, Lukas and London; brother Sidney Lumpkin Jr. (Joanne); numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

I miss you so much paw paw ... Not a day goes by that I dont think about you and remember all the times we shared. Ill never forget the lessons that you taught me ,the jokes you told that made me laugh , watching Rifleman and John Wayne , and making those god-awful mayonnaise tacos. I remember when you told me that I wouldnt graduate high school with my class ,and how upset I got ,and how badly I wanted to prove to you that I would. After finding out that I would indeed graduate... I couldnt wait to remind you about what you said ... Then I realized that you lit a fire in me that I so desperately needed ,and I wouldnt have graduated if you hadnt of said that . You were wise and thoughtful beyond measure and I hope to become half of the man that you were ...
