William Simmons Obituary

William Dodge Simmons August 29, 1930- December 30, 2007 PHENIX CITY, AL— William Dodge Simmons, 77 passed away on December 30, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. EDT Thursday at Vance Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Edward Kvietkus, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, Alabama. Pallbearers will be Dave Edwards, Curtis Howard, Mark Wishum and Justin Lott. Mr. Simmons was born on August 29, 1930 in Ridegway, South Carolina. He was a retired pharmacist and a member of Gentian Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, John E. Simmons and Pearle M. Garrett. He is survived by his wife Jean Simmons of Phenix City, AL; daughter, Donna Renee Simmons Edwards of Montgomery, AL; three grandchildren, Robyn Edwards, Kari Edwards and Lindsey Wishum; grandson in law, Mark Wishum; nieces and nephews, Larry and Mary Anne Simmons, John Simmons, Carol Simmons, Cathy Stubbs Bruce and Samantha Simmons, Keith and Diana Simmons, Roscoe Googe, Carol Googe; many more special nieces and nephews. Flowers will be accepted or donations made to American Heart Association 1300-108 Wynnton Road, Columbus, Georgia 31906
