Antonio Sangermano Obituary

Antonio "Tony" Sangermano, 83, of Jaffrey, NH, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on February 3rd, 2021.

Tony was born on July 31, 1937 in Peterborough to his mother, Minnie (Sweeney) Sangermano and father, Joseph Sangermano. He lived and attended school in Peterborough until he joined the United States Air Force in 1953 to serve our country.

He was married to his beloved wife, Avril Victoria Sangermano for 47 years. He cherished his children and their spouses, Damita-Jo Sangermano & Steve Conover, Lisa Sangermano, Deborah Golden, Ellen Kantner-Sangermano, Nicole Sangermano, Gina (Sangermano) & Jeff Wright, and Antonio Sangermano II.

Family was fiercely important to Tony. A good son and brother, a dedicated husband, father, and father in-law, an involved and loving grandfather, a dear and trusted uncle, cousin, and friend, Tony was a constant source of strength and support for countless individuals.

He loved everything with an engine-especially Harley Davidson motorcycles, John Deere tractors, and Peterbilts, which were a constant source of adventure and fun in his life. From driving his boat and teaching people to ski, riding bikes at Daytona and Laconia Bike Weeks, attending tractor and engine meets, and repairing and restoring tractors. He shared his passions with all of his children and grandchildren.

Many people knew Tony as a businessman. He formed, owned and operated Sangermano Oil for 33 years with his wife. The company was so much more than just an oil company-- plumbing, heating, chimney sweeps, pool water delivery, plowing, and more. He believed in customer service, hard work, and holding yourself to the highest standard of excellence. Never a man to slow down, after selling Sangermano Oil he continued to apply his business skills in buying, restoring, and selling cars, bikes, and tractors with his grandson Eastin.

His strong commitment to the Jaffrey community went beyond his role as a service provider. He was a past member of the Lions Club, Director of the local American Legion Riders chapter, and a loyal downtown patron, sharing coffee each morning with friends and family.

In addition to his wife and children, Tony is survived by his sister Norma Whitney, his brother Joseph "Sonny" Sangermano and wife Christine 'Kiki', his brother-in-law David Despres, fifteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Lisa, and seven siblings. He will be lovingly remembered by all who had the good fortune of keeping his company and hearing one (or many) of his treasured stories.

The family will have a private service at Cournoyer Funeral home, with a celebration of life to follow later this year. Remembrances can be shared at www.cournoyerfh.com.

We snowmobiled a or in this family. One time most memorable was. We were living in Moore pike. Snowing like crazy. Uncle Tony gave me a ride on his 440. We jumped a snowbank that was hiding a fence. I was sitting in the front. My head but the handle bars. Bled all over. Should of had stitches. Never did. I remember it like it was yesterday. He felt really bad. But, it happens. Just one of my battle scars !!!!
