David Meehan Obituary

RINDGE – David Paul "Pots" Meehan, 75, of Rindge, died on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, with family beside him, after a period of declining health.

He was born, in Malden, Massachusetts, on May 7, 1942, the son of Harold and Catherine (Curran) Meehan. He grew up in Malden until eighth grade before moving to Somerset, Massachusetts attending Coyle and Taunton Catholic High School where he was a member of the Class of 1960. After graduation he later resided in Raynham, Massachusetts for many years before moving to New Hampshire.

He married Eleanor I. Duhamel, in a ceremony at a son's house, on October 6, 1989.

He worked for many years in Freight Sales, most recently retiring in March, after selling a company he co-owned: D&H Transportation Company.

When asked what he did in his spare time, his answer would always involve his family. His wife, children and grandchildren knew him as "Disney Dave,' for his love of taking his family to Disney. There were also many fun trips to the beach; with his fun spirit and attitude, he was always the center of attention and dearly loved. He was a member of the local Dunkin Donuts Coffee Club.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Meehan; his step children: Susan Correia of Raynham, Massachusetts; Sharon Schuttauf and her husband, Mark, of Rindge; William B. Nunes and his wife, Misa, of Barnstable, Massachusetts and Brian A. Nunes of Fairhaven, Massachusetts; two brothers: Robert Meehan and his wife, Donna,of Somerset, Massachusetts and John Meehan and his wife, Jackie, of New York; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many nieces nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his brother: William Meehan and two sons: Robert W. Nunes and David H. Nunes.

Memorial services for Mr. Meehan will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017, at the Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River St, Jaffrey, NH, at 11:00 a.m. An hour of visitation will be held before the service, from 10:00 until 11:00. Burial will take place at a later date.
