Janet Doris Brooks Spear

Mason NH - Janet Doris Brooks Spear, 80, of Mason, NH, passed away peacefully at her home on January 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Janet was born on June 4, 1944, in Lynn, MA, to William and Cecile (Boucher) Brooks. She was raised in Lunenburg, MA. Janet was predeceased by her siblings: Elizabeth DePasquale, Charles Brooks, Dennis Brooks, Richard Brooks, and half sister Nancy Ware. She is survived by her sister Nancine Osborn of Shirley MA.

Janet was predeceased by her first husband Normand Drouin, Sr.

She and her husband of 47 years, Alan Spear, made their home in Greenville, NH, where they raised their children: Elizabeth (Richard) Prince, Normand Drouin, Richard Drouin, and Darel (Roberta) Oja.

Janet lived a life dedicated to her community. She proudly served on the Jaffrey Ambulance, was an active member of the Greenville American Legion Auxiliary and played a vital role in the Greenville Lioness Club, where she served as president for several years. One of her favorite traditions was dressing as Santa Claus to bring joy to local children during the holiday season.

Janet spent many years being the caretaker and companion of her beloved Aunt Doris Peterson who predeceased her.

Of all her roles, Janet's greatest joy came from being "Memere" to her 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She cherished the time spent playing competitive, day-long card games with them, creating memories filled with laughter and love. Janet's first grandchild, Joshua, and her first great-grandchild, Gregory, predeceased her in 2012.

She is survived by her grandchildren: Gregory, Brendon, Joseph, Sean, Jessica, Brandi, Patrick, Brianna, Ethan, and Julia. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Trey, Chloe, Geneva, Aaron, Micah, Rosalee, Elleri, Elias, Thatcher, and Abel. Janet is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Janet was an avid bingo player and spent many Sunday evenings at the Jaffrey VFW, enjoying the company of her lifelong friends.

Gather to celebrate Janet's at Michaud Funeral Home 32 Maple St. in Wilton, NH, on Saturday, February 1, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A memorial service will commence at 3PM at the same location.
