Joan H. Sebert

1931 - 2015

WESTMORELAND, N.H. - Joan H. Sebert, 84, of Westmoreland, N.H. and a former longtime resident of Keene, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2015 at the Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland.

She was born in Keene on Jun. 7, 1931, the daughter of Ernest and Rosamand (Pierce) Zecha. She grew up in Keene attending local schools and was a graduate of Keene High School.

Mrs. Sebert worked as a secretary for 25 years in the New England Regional Office (NERO) Claims Department with the Peerless Insurance Company in Keene. She also enjoyed working as a Keene Sentinel carrier and in phones sales at the Sentinel.

She was a Cub Scout den mother for several years, a volunteer at the Keene Community Kitchen and with Big Brothers Big Sisters. She enjoyed skiing, knitting, watching football and going to the ocean. Her favorite pastime was the time she spent with her three grandsons.

She is survived by two sons, Robert F. Sebert Jr. and his wife, Diana of Roxbury, N.H., Peter J. Sebert and his wife, Laura of Peterborough; three grandsons, Matthew Sebert, Jacob Sebert and Samuel Sebert; a brother, Frederick Zecha of Laconia, N.H. and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the many friends she considered as family at Maplewood who made such as huge difference in her life while residing there. She was predeceased by a brother Ernest Zecha Jr. and a sister Barbara Yeorger.

A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Foley Funeral Home (www.foleyfuneralhome.com), 49 Court Street, Keene. Burial in the Woodland Cemetery, Keene, will be private.
