John Minnery Obituary

Jack Minnery, Jr., 51, passed away on June 21, 2014, at his home in Anchorage, AK. Jack was born on October 6, 1962. He was a Pastor and Founder of The Real Life Foundation.

A service will be held on Saturday, June 28th at 1 p.m., at New Grace Church, 10821 Totem Rd., Anchorage Alaska 99516. Officiating the service will be Brian Chronister. A reception will be held at the Inlet Tower Hotel and Suites, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., 1200 L. Street, Anchorage AK 99201.

Jack was affiliated with the New Grace Church, The Real Life Foundation, Cliffside Community Chapel. He was an Ordained Minister; his whole life was community service to all the homeless of Anchorage.

Jack's hobbies consisted of Motorcycling, Sports (Ohio State - he was in the Buckeye Club); he loved coaching his son's soccer, football and baseball teams; he loved the water, avid swimmer, loved Hawaii, loved hanging out at the families cabin on Big Lake and jet skiing. His children were his #1 focus and the most important thing to him. He enjoyed weight lifting, he was part of the 400 club in high school which meant he could bench 400 pounds; his passion was studying scripture and above all else loving the Lord with all his heart.

Jack Minnery was one of the most giving loving people you could have ever met. His dedication to his mission of helping the homeless in the Anchorage community was beyond measure. He always put everyone before himself. He was the most unselfish person you could have ever met. His children were his whole world and his new Granddaughter Ellie was the light of his life. He was always positive about everything and never had a bad thing to say about anyone or any situation. You could always come to Jack and talk to him about anything and he would make your world such a better place - always focusing on the positive. Although Anchorage is at such a loss - he always talked about how excited he was to one day meet the Lord.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline (Minnery) de los Santos (Christian de los Santos); granddaughter, Ellie Jo de los Santos; son, Johnny Minnery, III; brothers, Mike Minnery, Jim Minnery (Kim Minnery), Kip Minnery (Jennifer Rowe); and niece and nephews Savanna, Duke, Miles, and Dayton

Pastor Jack Minnery
May I encourage you dear one to genuinely open your heart to God's Word! Give God a chance to show you who He truly is, study His Word, listen to His word, if you do the word of God will come alive on the inside of you, in your Spirit, it will come alive to your heart:) it really is the only thing that feeds your Spirit which is the deepest part of you! Genuinely give God a try and see for yourself John 4:24 "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and truth"
Thank you Jack for helping so many.
Love in Christ-Wendy Moseley

One thing for sure. He is up there with the lord and smiling back at us knowing that we will be together again. Jacks smile will be missed by us earthbounders but the memories we have of Jack are treasures indeed! Hopefully there are Harleys in Heaven Jack as the plans to ride together here never came to be.

Godspeed Jack. With heartfelt sympathy to all who were blessed to know him.

Jack was a great guy and a friend to all who passed his way. I am going to miss him at the gym and our friendly banter about our shared love of Maui. Rest in peace brother.

Jack, was a brother & good next door neighbor for 16 years for Virginia & myself. Virginia said she heard him come in on his Harley on the evening of the 20th...his last ride. we will miss Jack. I never heard during those years Jack talking negative about anyone. He always had a positive outlook on people especially young folks. we will miss you Jack! Ron & Virginia Adams
