Kenneth Blanchard Wilson

Milford, NH - Kenneth Blanchard Wilson, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He resided in Milford, NH.

Born on September 9th, 1931, in Plainfield, NJ; to Kenneth Blanchard Wilson Sr. and Anna Henrietta (Roberts) Wilson.

In 1966 Ken moved his family from Martinsville, NJ, his childhood home, to Mason, NH where he resided until 11 years ago when he moved to Milford, NH.

He attended and graduated from The Wardlaw School in Plainfield, NJ. He also took courses at Rutgers University and the Technical School in Trenton, NJ. He was a Draftsman for his working career, retiring from Ingersoll-Rand in Nashua, NH.

Ken was drafted when he was 20 years old. He was very proud to serve his country as an Army Corporal. He was stationed in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He served from July 1952 to June 1954. It was his honor to wear his Veteran cap wherever he went. One of his greatest highlights of his senior years was being chosen to attend an Honor Flight to Washington, DC acknowledging his service.

Ken was an active member of his community. He was the first person to be appointed by the Town of Mason to be its building inspector, a position he held for 47 years. He was a member of the Mason Congregational Church in Mason, NH. He served on multiple boards and became chairman of many. He also served on many town committees. After moving to Mason, Ken almost immediately joined the Mason Volunteer Fire Department. He became a Captain.

Ken was a Mason, belonging to Bethel-Souhegan Lodge #24 F&AM for 54 years. Ken was also a Bektash Shriner.

Ken was a co-founder and 50-year member of The Wolf Rockers Square Dance Club of Mason, NH. He had many interests. He loved HO model trains and belonged to 2 clubs. He spent many hours building models, assembling his trains, traveling to shows and simply giving himself much enjoyment with his hobby. He built homes, worked in his shop, had a beautiful garden, watched birds, played cribbage, and continuously worked in his yard. He enjoyed maple sugaring so much, he built his own sugar house. Even with working, all the service, and hobbies "Pop" as his family knew him, still had time to be a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather to his family.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Florence "Sally" Wilson. His daughters Cynthia Ann Tibbetts (husband Jim), Milford NH, Betsy Jane Wasson (husband Bruce) Milford NH. His sister Lois Frezza (husband Bill) Rocky Mount, NC. Preceded in death by his sister-in-law Carol Victorella of Plainfield Township, PA on January 4, 2024. His grandchildren Rebecca Faill (husband Patrick) Norwich, VT, Jeremy Castonguay (wife Marina) Denver, NC, Stephanie Webber (husband Eric) Nashua, NH, Fayli Tibbetts, Hudson, NH, Tracy Jones (husband Mike) Chelmsford, MA, Kelli Drew (husband Todd) Dracut, MA, Lisa Colangelo, Westford, MA, Richard Colangelo (wife Debbie) Mount Pleasant, SC. Pop was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren, 6 nieces and 5 nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Mason Congregational Church, located at 33 Valley Road, in Mason, NH on Saturday, February 10th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will be held in spring.
