Lucille Clemm Obituary

PETERBOROUGH -- Lucille Clemm passed away quietly at the home of her daughter, Rosalinda Devereux, in Wexford, Ireland on Wednesday April 11. She was 90 years old.

Lucille was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 12, 1927. She excelled in music, drama, English and history, and graduated from Michigan State University.

Skilled musician and respected and beloved Waldorf teacher for many years, Lucille taught at Green Meadow School, Spring Valley, New York; Michael Hall School, Forest Row, Sussex, England; Marin Waldorf School, San Rafael, California; and Pine Hill and High Mowing School in Wilton.

Lucille loved to communicate with, work with, and enjoy other people. In each of the places where she resided and worked over her long life she enlivened the center of school and community with much music, good conversation, warmth, light and laughter. She generously shared with each person her wonderful stories, her sense of humor, her love, friendliness and loyalty.

Lucille's home was open to all, as was her heart. She also loved animals and always had room for a cat or a dog. She took great joy in the blooming of each flower, and the unexpected early morning visits of wildlife at her various dwelling places.

She was a resident of Peterborough for the past 10 years, but spent her final four months with her daughter in Ireland.

Lucille's entire family, and many friends, students and co-workers will miss her very much.

She is survived by her daughter Rosalinda Devereux, son-in- law Peadar Devereux, and granddaughters Catherine and Hannah Devereux of Ireland; daughter Leslie Vogel and son-in- law Frederic Simmons of Greenfield; granddaughter Liz Simmons, grandson-in-law Flynn Cohen and great grandson Gabriel Bradshaw of Brattleboro, Vermont; granddaughter Rebecca Simmons and great granddaughter Hazel Nunez of Greenfield; granddaughter Sierra Simmons of Greenfield; step-sons and their families: Tim Clemm of Georgia, Geoffrey Clemm of Colorado, Mark Clemm of Pennsylvania, and Thomas Clausen Clemm of Norway; sister-in- law and brother-in- law Susanna Clemm and Joel Craig of Florida; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and by her first husband, Norman Vogel of Switzerland.

Lucille is pre-deceased by her loving son, Timothy Vogel 1954-2003, and her second husband of many years, Peter Clemm 1924-2015.

Funeral services were held in Ireland on Saturday April 14 at Saint Mary's Church in Kilmore, Wexford. A Celebration of Life memorial will be held in New Hampshire during the spring.

Lucille and Peter were such grand friends to my many years in Temple New Hampshire. When we started the Temple Wilton Community Players to perform the Christmas Plays, Lucille played piano for us and Peter became a King. Their home was always a place of welcome and laughter. I saw so many school events where Lucille played piano and so many festivals shared. I send you love and hope on your next part of your journey. Lucille. Be in peace.

My deepest condolences to all of Lucilles family. I was privileged to have been able to care for Lucille in her final few months and enjoyed immensely her stories of her lifes adventures. Lucille made me feel welcome immediately with her kind nature and great sense of humour and we very soon built up a close bond.
