Richard W. Carter Obituary

Oxford - Funeral services for Richard W. Carter Jr., 86, of Oxford, will be today, October 12, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory. Richard O'Connor will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Oxford Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends today from 12 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Carter died on Tuesday at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Willodean Carter; sons, Elton W Carter (Linda), Richard K. Carter, and Aaron B. Carter (Staci); brothers, Joe H. Carter, Edsell V. Carter; sister, Betty Sue Pate; ten grandchildren; six great- grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Rich Carter Jr., Daniel Carter, Gavin Carter, Matt Smith, Marshall Shaddix, Wayne Livingston. Honorary pallbearers will be James Lindsey, Clark Gray and Fred Denney. Mr. Carter was a native of Lineville. He was a resident of Oxford for the past 30 years. He was a member of Betta View Hills Church of Christ. He was the owner of Caters Refrigeration. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Betta View Hills Church of Christ Building Fund.
