Steven Blodgett Obituary

Steven L. Blodgett

Greenfield NH - Steven L. Blodgett, 62 of Greenfield, passed away with family by his side at Bridges by Epoch in Nashua, NH on December 3, 2023. He was born in Manhasset, NY on May 22, 1961, the son of Donald and Carol (Austin) Blodgett.

Steve was raised in Nashua and graduated from Nashua Senior High School, Class of 1979. He worked at the former Alexander's Supermarket, and in shipping and receiving at both Lechmere and Jordan Marsh, all in Nashua. He later was employed at Graham Packaging, a bottle manufacturing plant in Merrimack, NH, for 20 years. Steve was a passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox and their farm teams, as well as the Boston Bruins, attending home games, meeting several of the players from each team, and garnering prized autographs. He had an extensive collection of baseball cards, team jerseys, and caps and was an avid statistician, keeping lineups and detailed records for each game.

As loyal as he was to his beloved Boston sports teams, Steve's loyalty really shone through in his lasting friendships, his ties to family, and attendance at family gatherings. He was a proud uncle who enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews, weaving adventurous tales on the spot to entertain them when they were younger. Steve enjoyed trips to Hampton Beach, taking his bike for lengthy rides, watching classic TV shows, bowling, driving his prized Firebird, attending concerts, and listening to classic rock.

Steve was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease at age 54. Following his diagnosis, he was cared for at home by his sisters for all but the last six months of his life. Despite his illness, he

persevered without complaint for nearly nine years before his death due to complications from the disease.

Steve is survived by sisters Stephanie L. Blodgett and wife Heidi Lewis of West Milford, NJ, Jami G. Bascom and husband Tom of Greenfield, NH, and Stacey L. Ferraro and husband Thomas of Greenfield, NH, nieces and nephews Julia, Peter, and Emily Bascom, and Johanna and Andreas Goergen, aunt Theodora Farr of Fair Haven, VT, cousins Michael Austin and Timothy Austin of Winston-Salem, NC, Deborah Tyrrell of Winston-Salem, NC, Sally Moore and Laurie Gordon of Fair Haven, VT, and Wendy Blodgett of Jacksonville, FL. Steve was predeceased by his loving parents, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and a cousin.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Monadnock Congregational Church, 120 Wilton Road, Peterborough, NH. The family requests that attendees honor Steve by wearing a Red Sox or Bruins team jersey or rally cap during the reception to follow the service in the parish hall. Interment will be in the family plot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, St. Johnsbury, VT at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Steve's name to the Alzheimer's Association (https://alz.org).
