Warren White Obituary

PETERBOROUGH - Warren E. White, 92, of Peterborough, died peacefully at his home in Peterborough on September 18, 2013. He was born on April 1, 1921, in Saxtons River, VT, the son of Eugene White and Lois Parker.

Warren moved to Peterborough at the age of 5 and has since been a lifelong resident. He served in the United States Army during WWII. A decorated combat Veteran, he served in Burma as a member of the famed Merrill's Marauders and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed playing cribbage and looked forward to playing each Tuesday at the Cribbage Club in Jaffrey.

Warren had an extraordinary talent and passion for harness horse racing. His zest and joy for life was always evident during his time with his horses. He trained and raced for nearly 50 years and competed in his final event at the age of 87.

He is survived by his wife of more than 66 years, Mary Lou (Scott) White of Peterborough; his four children, Jacqueline Weeks of Peterborough, Stephen White of Freedom, WY, Roberta Allen of Jaffrey, and David White of Hancock; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Esther Lent of Swanzey.

A memorial service will take place Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Altemont Lodge No. 26, at the Corner of Union Street and Windy Row, West Peterborough, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Warren's memory to: Make A Wish Foundation.

sorry for your loss but we all still have memories, and our two kids still talk about the horses getting lose down our road when they were small our thoughts and prayers are with you all
