Aaron Pryor Obituary

Visit the Legacy Remembers website to view the full obituary.
Aaron Bernard Pryor, 56, of Rochester NY died March 26, 2025 at Strong Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born September 21, 1968 in Lawrence Kansas, the son of Tim and Juanita Pryor.

Aaron lived in Kent OH, Cary NC and Arlington VA. He spent many happy summers with his maternal grandparents at Edinboro Lake, and considered Edinboro PA to be his true hometown.

He graduated from Kent Roosevelt High school in 1987, and from Kent State University in 1992 with a degree in Journalism. He was a reporter and editor for Record Publishing Co, and Kirkland Newspapers. He was Associate Editor for ISRI Scrap Magazine, later transitioning to Web Administrator. He worked for Sutherland Corp in a variety of Technical Support roles. For many years he maintained and wrote a web blog, Adventures Into the Well Known, inspired by early canoe adventures on Edinboro Lake with his father. He played saxophone in several high school bands, and had a lifelong love and amazing knowledge of all genres of music. Several lucky rescue cats lived their best life with him.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Owen and Laura Pryor, and his maternal grandparents, Bernard and Arla Gwynn. Survivors include his parents, step mom Ellen Smith, brother Will Pryor, and many aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.

There will be a gathering later in the spring at Edinboro Lake, to remember him and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a local animal rescue of your choice, in honor of his last Rescue Kitty Henry.

Thus greatly saddens me to hear of Aaron's passing. I didn't know Aaron all that well but occasionally we would message on Facebook. Usually about animals. Aaron and I shared a love for cats and it was lovely seeing his cat photos all over Facebook.

Rest in peace Aaron, my heart goes out to Uncle Tim, and all his loved ones.

I met Aaron at Yellow Brick Road Pre-school, Lawrence, KS circa 1973-74. He was a darling, sweet, bright little boy. I have not forgotten him. May all his loved ones find some comfort.

I had the privilege of being both your trainer and your manager, and I am absolutely heartbroken by your passing. It's crazy to think that, despite never having met you in person, I could still see your light and genuine thoughtfulness through my computer screen. You even introduced me to music I was too young to have ever heard, and that´s something I´ll always carry with me.

Your presence will be deeply missed, but I feel fortunate to have had the chance to know you, even if only virtually.

My deepest condolences to your family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Sleep well, my friend.

I'm crushed. Aaron was a fantastic friend. Bright as a whip. Great taste in music. Politically active. I'm gonna miss everything about you.

You made a big impression on our lives and those of our rescue kitties.
You brought a lot of joy to a lot of different people and creatures both while you were here.
Thank you for being you, the world feels darker without you here.
You made quite an impression on more people than you knew.
We will all miss you so much.
