Ab Davis

Ab Davis, 80 of Newbern, Tennessee died on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at his residence in Newbern, Tennessee. Born Wednesday, September 11, 1935 in Covington, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Lancy Warren Davis and the late Molly Elizabeth Campbell Davis. He was a retired football coach in Dyer County for thirty years and will be remembered for winning the State Championship in 1973 while coaching at Dyer County High School. Visitation for Coach Davis will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Private services will be held at a later date with Dr. John Lowrance and Mr. Richard Barnes officiating. He is survived by his wife of fifty- nine years, Sally Davis of Newbern, Tennessee; one son, Steve Davis (Amanda) of Millington, Tennessee; one daughter, Laura Wright (Stephan) of Newbern, Tennessee; one brother, Bob Davis of Searcy, Arkansas; one sister, Carolyn Rickard of Millington, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Justin Wright (Allison), Stevi Thompson (Bruce), Jaret Wright (Paige), Molly Moody (Nick) and B.A. Davis and eight great grandchildren, Reagan Thompson, Abbie Wright, Davis Wright, Ella Wright, Max Thompson, Larah Jane Moody, Liza Wright and Anna Wright. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Louie Davis and Don Davis; one sister, Ellen Howard and a great-grandchild, Brylee Thompson. Pallbearers will be Justin Wright, Jaret Wright, B. A. Davis, Bruce Thompson, Nick Moody and Stephan Wright. The family ask that memorials be directed to the Community Cancer Fund, P.
