I'm so sad and and lonely without you.
You were such an amazingly smart and gifted person. I am grateful for the 32 years with you, but also thoughly saddened that you chose to continued smoking cigarettes (despite knowing how much you were loved...and respected).
That 5th and last heart attack made me the saddest person on the planet. To say I miss you would be the greatest understatement ever. You were much more than a husband to me and I miss you every minute of every day. I will be looking forward to seeing you again on the other side. Until then I will always keep you in my heart.

For a long time as an ISU employee riding the bus from Idaho Falls, Abner tried to get me to become a driver. The thought of it scared me. But eventually I said OK and he trained me, I got my CDL and drove the bus. I loved it! The best CDL trainer I could have ever asked for. And boy did we had good laughs. Thanks Abner. I will drink a Pepsi in your memory tonight!

I loved reading this tribute to Abner. It touched my heart. Thank you Abner for all of your wonderful service at ISU and for your spirit of friendship and care for everyone. It was great to know you and ride on many bus tours around our campus! May your lovely and talented wife, Dani, find some peace and solace eventually. It is a great loss!

Oh Abnerd! Where have you gotten too? You were too kind for the days ahead on this world. I will never forget your smile and infectious weirdness! I love how my friend would say all those discontent things girls say about guys and then get a cheeky smile. You made her crazy happy ( sometimes just crazy) and that made me love you! You remind me of someone I have known my whole adult life and that made you even better in my book. Your smile will always be a reflection of your huge heart and burned in my minds photo memories. You are one of a kind! The mold was broken after the angels made you! Now you are one of them and keeping that boy of yours on a path to greatness! Ya did good Mr. Sims but you will be sorely missed! Miss Dani is gonna be all sorts of mad you got called back so soon! I know, I know, she has the most awesome angel on her side now! I hear ya! Bless your sweet soul Abnerd!

Abner was one of a kind! He was definitely someone that was always willing to help and lifted you up, even on your worst day. I am so glad to have known him for the short time I did. He was a bright spot on crazy hard days & everything in-between. Hope and pray all these amazing memories will bring you comfort in the days ahead.

I worked with Abner for a number of years at ISU. Several times he would show me pictures of the plane and cars we was working on. I could see and hear his passion for his projects when he would show me photos.
Whenever I walked past the bus shop he always had a smile and would wave with a greeting.

Straight up respect for the man!

Abner was a wonderful man. He helped me out. He always talked about his cats, showed me pictures of the plane he was working on. He helped fix things without even be asked. He worked even when sick. He would joke about his lovely wife and his adventures, with the cars and the many saddles they had. It broke my heart to hear he was gone. I give my biggest condolences to his lovely wife and son.
