Adam - Thought about you a lot this past Memorial Day. I remember when you were a skinny kid trying to make a tackle on the football field. I'm proud that you grew up to be the man that you were and more proud that you made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedom. I think of you often and miss your smile. There are many people that miss you - me included.

I didn't know Adam but I remember hearing about his death on the local news. I have seen a cars that have "In Memory of Adam Marion" leather window stickers. I even saw Adam on the Nancy Grace show as an American Hero. And Adam truly was a hero. I don't think his memory will ever die because he meant so much to so many people. He must have been a special person and loved by many people who will never forget him. He holds a special place in the hearts of many. Thank you Adam. To the family and parents of Adam I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

We were saddened to learn of PFC Marion's death in combat. Sergeant Rice had e-mailed me that a soldier from the unit had been killed, but withheld the name pending notification of next of kin. The people of Saint Pauls quickly learned of the tragic loss of Adam. The freedom we enjoy is a gift of soldiers like PFC Marion who made the ultimate sacrifice for his country. I am writing on behalf of the members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12025 in Saint Pauls. We extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Adam Marion.

Pam & Donnie,
40-years ago at this time I was in Vietnam. We had just gone through the Tet Offensive. I lost several friends. I was speaking with another "old" vet this weekend and he said..."One never knows how wonderful freedom is until you have had to fight for it!" Adam simply followed a long line of heroes who had the privilege of fighting for our freedom! Dick Ellis, Public Information Officer, NC-AOC.

Dear Pam, Donnie and Family,
As you are an integral member of our court family, it is with tremendous sadness we learn of the passing of your son, Adam while serving his Country in Iraq. While I did not have the pleasure of meeting him, I feel as though I knew him because of the love and memories of him you shared even before his passing. It is obvious he was loved everywhere he went. Our world needs more people like him. He set the example for others to follow. His memory will be with us for years and years. He was obviously raised well and comes from a loving and good family. While his body may be gone, his memory and good deeds will live a long life of it's own. God Bless.

Dear Pam,Donnie,and family,
Words fail me as I attempt to express my sorrow to you for your loss. I am so sorry. I did not have the honor of knowing Adam personally. However, over the years, I have heard so many stories that I can begin to formulate a picture of this young man in my mind. It seems as if he loved people of all ages but children imparticular. It also seems that he loved his family - his mom, his dad, his sister, and his brother-in-law - and God very much. He also, obviously, loved his country. It appears to me that Adam was one of the good guys. Thank you, Lord, for the good guys for they are precious to our hearts. Pam, Donnie, Adrienne, Terry, and other family members, rest assured knowing that Adam is this day with his heavenly Father in paradise. God bless you all.

Donnie, Pam, Adrian and all of your extended family:
From the bottom of our hearts, we grieve with you over the loss of your child. When my only child was baptized as an infant I remember the minister saying, "Your child is a gift to you on this earth; she's God's child." That statement left me unsettled as to how this miracle of life from the seed Kenny and I had planted could not possibly be our child. Then as our child grows and matures, and we relinquish parental control, we find ourselves leaving her in God's hands. I hope some day you'll find comfort in knowing Adam is in God's hands, because you and he have given your "gift" to the WORLD, the sacrifice of his earthly life. As American citizens, we are very proud to have been represented, protected and defended by such an honorable and noble young man. We send out lots of love to everyone.
MAY GOD BLESS,

I'm glad to have met him and got to spend time with him at "the shop" or out to eat at TJ's. The profession he chose and the very cause for which he died for is very honorable, noble one and I'm so very proud of him. He will always be remembered for his awesome attitude, friendships, and now forever remembered as one of America's hero's who sacrificed everything and gave the greatest gift that any man can for the freedom of others. God Bless PFC Adam Marion and may he rest in peace. Love ya brother.

Isaiah 65 (New International Version)
New Heavens and a New Earth
17 "Behold, I will create
new heavens and a new earth.
The former things will not be remembered,
nor will they come to mind.
18 But be glad and rejoice forever
in what I will create,
for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight
and its people a joy.
19 I will rejoice over Jerusalem
and take delight in my people;
the sound of weeping and of crying
will be heard in it no more.
20 "Never again will there be in it
an infant who lives but a few days,
or an old man who does not live out his years;
he who dies at a hundred
will be thought a mere youth;
he who fails to reach [a] a hundred
will be considered accursed.
21 They will build houses and dwell in them;
they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
22 No longer will they build houses and others live in them,
or plant and others eat.
For as the days of a tree,
so will be the days of my people;
my chosen ones will long enjoy
the works of their hands.
23 They will not toil in vain
or bear children doomed to misfortune;
for they will be a people blessed by the LORD,
they and their descendants with them.
24 Before they call I will answer;
while they are still speaking I will hear.
25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox,
but dust will be the serpent's food.
They will neither harm nor destroy
on all my holy mountain,"
says the LORD.

Donnie, Pam, and Adrian,
What a privilege it is, and a blessing it has been, to have known Adam since he was born, watch him grow into a cute little boy, and then become the fine young man, that everyone so loved and adored.
Adam always did so much for his friends, community, and even those he didn't know. I know, part of that was the way he was natured, but a lot of it was instilled in him by his family, and he loved every bit of it. He seemed to always be doing something for others.
I know it's hard to give him up, but I hope you can fine comfort in knowing that Adam gave his life doing what he wanted to do, and that was helping others in a way that only a select few can do. I wouldn't have expected anything less of him, and no one could have expected more.
Thinking of you, and love you all.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Adam, but I am remembering

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

As I look at the bright, good natured face shining from the photo on this site, my thoughts turn to Adam's family, his friends and the community he served before joining the military. All will miss his presence in their lives but they will have many memories to keep him with them each day. Mr and Mrs Marion: it seems so out of the order of things to say goodbye to your child, but I sincerely hope that you are able to find comfort in the knowledge that Adams's short years on earth were well spent and that he was loved by many people.
Army Engineers are the same the world over, and I'm sure he loved his work and believed in what he was doing. He served his country with honor and it is our privilege to recognise that service today.
Rest well Pfc. Adam L. Marion.

I had the privilege of meeting your son Adam at MEPS in Charlotte North Carolina on March 22, 2007 when he, along with my son and several other young men, took their oaths to serve and protect our country. My husband, best friend, and I had the opportunity to speak with Adam during the proceedings of that day. We all were very impressed with what a fine young man he was. I remember telling my husband and friend what a kind spirit Adam had about him. We were very blessed to have the opportunity to meet such an outstanding individual. Words cannot begin to tell you how sorry we are for your loss. My prayer for your family is that God will wrap his loving arms around you and bring you peace and comfort during this difficult time. Thank you for your dedication, service and sacrifice.

Mr. & Mrs. Marion,
I am so sorry for your loss. I did not know Adam personally, but my daughters and several of my friends knew him. They all speak very well of him. They say that he was a very likable young man. And, knowing that he volunteered to serve as a combat engineer in this very difficult and dangerous time speaks volumes about his character. He was and is a faithful soldier and fallen hero. You must have done a wonderful job raising Adam and his sister.
I wish that I could say something that would ease your pain. But, that is beyond my ability. We will continue to pray for your family and ask that God's Holy Spirit hold you, protect you and comfort you all during this time. We know from His Word that God Himself grieves with us when we grieve.
Please contact us if there is anything that we can do for you.

I did not know Adam, but my husband did. I have no words to help ease the pain you are feeling now. You are experiencing what I feel to be the worst kind of grief possible and that is of losing a child.
My prayer is that God will hold you in the palm of His hand and carry you through this most painful time.
Pfc. Adam Marion is a true American Hero. He gave the ultimate sacrifice, as did his family.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!
I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor
traits/homepage,
where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
