Adam Montgomery Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 1, 2024.
Adam John Montgomery passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness in Roseville, CA on November 30, 2024. He was 40 years old. God must have been short on angels and that's why he needed Adam.

Born on September 22, 1984, in Nampa, Idaho, to Ann and Mark Montgomery. Adam attended Oakmont High School and Sierra College, where he earned a degree in accounting. After college he worked as a manager at Bob's Car Wash, then became part-owner of Premier Tax Service, and controller at Butcher Power Products.

Adam's deep connection to his parents was evident in his thoughtfulness and respect for them. He filled their lives with love and laughter, sharing his friends, and activities with them. Whether golfing, cooking, entertaining friends, treating his parents with concert tickets to Andrea Bochelli or Toby Keith, cheering on their favorite teams, or owning a business together, their family of three was full and filled with love. They feel he was the best of them.

Adam was a passionate sports fan. He was a lifelong supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers ,and also loved the Kings, Giants, Boise State Broncos, Sharks, golf, and the Olympics. He was never one to pass up watching a sporting event.

Forever friendly and kind with a wicked sense of humor, Adam accumulated friends from all aspects of his life. He was a connector who loved bringing everyone together; never one to miss a good barbecue or pool party. Adam's warmth and genuine spirit endeared him to everyone he met. This was evident in his many trips and parties with friends: 4th of July celebrations in Tahoe with Peggy, Greg, Kimmery and Katie, a Dave Matthews concert at the Gorge, visits to Lambeau Field and Steelers Stadium, multiple Fiesta Bowls, family reunions in Florida, Kentucky Derby parties in full dress attire, dart league, wine tasting, Sunday Fun-days, golf tournaments, an adventurous trip to Mexico (during a hurricane), many bachelor parties in San Diego, Miami, Austin and most recently, a trip to Nashville to celebrate his 40th birthday. Adam also had an eclectic love for music, enjoying artists like Jay-Z, Dire Straits, Dave Mathews (possibly attending over 20 concerts), Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eric Church and Luke Combs.

Adam spent many summer and winter vacations in Idaho, creating cherished memories in McCall with his family playing Liverpool, boating, river rafting, lively chats around the bonfire, horseback riding, water and snow skiing, family golf tournaments, cooking dinners, listening to music on the end of the dock, and enjoying a few cocktails. Most recently, he attended the 95th birthday of his Amuma, where 40 family members gathered to celebrate with Adam.

Adam leaves behind his loyal companion, Layla. His life was enriched by the love and loyalty of several dogs, but his bond with Layla was particularly strong, as she was by his side at the end.

Adam is survived by his loving parents, Ann and Mark, to whom he brought immense joy; his Amuma Blanche Swindell of Nampa, Idaho; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a long list of friends whom he considered family.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mary and Henry Montgomery; his Aitxitxia Max; and his uncle, Ray.

Although Adam's sweet disposition, delicious meals, and "best hugs ever" will be deeply missed, his legacy of love and kindness will forever live on in the countless people he connected with during his short life. As a tribute, the cousins have shared their memories here: https://bit.ly/AdamCousins.

Let us carry forward the lessons Adam taught us-of kindness, compassion, and living fully in the moment. His spirit will live on in the love we continue to share, the memories we hold dear, and the way we live our lives every day.

As a devout sports fan, Adam was a supporter of the V Foundation. In order to further honor Adam, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Jimmy Valvano's V Foundation.

Ann, while I did not know Adam well. I know how much you loved him and he was always your right hand man. My memory of Adam is you always calling him when you were doing my taxes. You would say Adam I need you to do this, Adam I need you to do that. And he would so kindly come and help you find something. I can´t imagine how hard this must be for you. My prayers are with you. You are a beautiful person

So sorry to hear this Very sad news.
I met Ann and Adam about 35 years ago when we lived a couple of miles apart from each other
he has always been one of my favorite friends in his generation to talk with. He was always such an honorable and uplifting soul,
our conversations flowed effortlessly as he was a great listener.
No topic was off-limits.
He was not just a friend, but a confidant,
he will always be an irreplaceable treasure that will be missed.
He´s a gift bestowed upon all of us by the universe
and for that I am eternally, grateful rest in peace my good friend,
Rose Sondrol.

I can't remember the very first time we met Adam. It just seems he was always part of our family. I think it was during a Steelers game at Phat Chads with his Mom and Dad . His sweet disposition, his kindness, and his loyalty to his friends and his family were incredible. We will miss you so much Adam.

Adam, I don't like this at all and miss you so much. I can't express how greatful I am to have had you in my life. If it wasn't for our parents meeting and quickly becoming best friends, you wouldn't have become the brother I never had. Thank you Mom, Greg, Mark, and Ann, I love you so much.

Holidays, dinners, Tahoe, and other adventures won't be the same. Without question you'll be smiling and laughing with us in our hearts and memories. Adam made it, Adam made everything will continue to be said, forever.

Your humor, generosity, love and positive outlook will be missed more than you know. I'm honored you shared each one of these with me. I love you and miss you so much. Until we meet again.

P.S. Say hi and give Greg a hug for me.

Adam- this is tough. We all loved you so much and the void you are going to leave is huge. You were an amazing friend to Jared and I- one of the best. And so genuine. I loved how many special memories we created together- from concerts, to golf trips, Sunday Fundays and most recently Nashville. You will always be with us. Thank you making us all better humans and sharing your laughter, kindness and smile with us.

Here we go...
Adam was one of the best guys I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Many years ago, our parents became friends, then best friends, then family. Adam was the brother I never had. I'm not sure what to say other than I will miss literally everything about him. His smile and giggle top the list. What an honor to get know him and have him in our family.

Adam and I at Amuma´s 90th birthday party. Likely talking about sports, a new dinner recipe idea, or that time Adam was playing Quarterback and his center cut the cheese before the hike. I´ll always remember that story, just like so many other great memories with Adam. You will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.

Alright buddy, well this really sucks. What is ironic is that you would be the one I would typically turn to in a situation like this...we had too many happy memories to count but you were always there for me with unconditional support and love when life´s rough patches arose. This is probably the roughest patch yet.

I cannot come up with any words that are adequate enough to explain what you meant to me. We met the first week of freshman year and you were soon there after my best friend. My best friend for 25 years. You were many people´s best friend.

You had a charisma, charm, sense of humor and a social IQ unlike any other. People who were fortunate enough to cross your path simply gravitated to you. And you did that without needing to be the center of attention. It just came naturally and organically.

Through you I was introduced to my second parents Mark and Ann. And then my third parents Greg and Peg. And too many new friends to count. Those bonds will always stay in tact because of the special person you were.

I love you buddy. Thanks for making mine and so many others lives better through your presence. You were truly one of kind!

Many times as I have played golf with and enjoyed Adams company at social events. He never once failed to ask how I have been. That simple question gets by most. He genuinely cared how I have been. Wonderful human sadly lost far too early. Reat in peace Adam

Taken way too soon. My favorite Adam memory was when we took a road trip to Oregon via Amtrak in May 2007. The train was stopped halfway due to track work and we were stuck. What should have been an 8 hour ride ended up being 12 hours. We were hungry and delirious, but Adam kept me laughing with jokes to help pass the time. I still reference those jokes to this day. He had a heart of gold and will be missed so much.

What you meant to SO MANY PEOPLE is impossible to put in to words Adam.

Your mom & dad should feel so proud that they raised you to the man that you were, and what that meant to so many of us.

You are not replaceable so the best any of us can do is hope that way we find a way to live up to half of the man that you were.

Thank you so much for the time we had together Adam.

I was blessed to know Adam since we were kids.

There were so many things he loved to do as a kid.

We would play NBA jam then go outside, lower the hoop and practice our crazy dunks on our friend Tony.

Then Tony would get mad and want to go home, so we had to let Tony dunk on us to be cool again.

The loss of Adam will leave an enormous hole in our hearts...he was the family sweetheart with his adorable sense of humor, chill disposition, and ability to make us all happy. He knew sports inside and out, and was a self- taught wizard in the kitchen. He was always available to lead a hand and to share his love of music. Not sure we will be able to continue having the Swindell Family Disco in McCall without him. We all adored him, from the very youngest to the very oldest. God take care of our precious boy and please let him play lots of golf with dad, his Aitxitxia. Rest in peace, dear nephew, I will love you forever. Aunt Jane

No matter what kind of day I was having, Adam always made me feel better about myself and inspired me to do better and be better. He always saw in me what didn´t. Forever I will be grateful for his wisdom and encouragement.

I worked for Adam at Bob´s Carwash & Detail. My first memory was handing him my direct deposit form for payroll. I thought to myself, "I better not mess with this guy, he´ll take my money away." Turns out, he was one of the coolest, kindest, most down to earth dudes I´ve ever met.

This was Adam. Who else would opt in to floating with their cousins and their kids when the dock was 20ft away. Adam would - every time.

When we were young in McCall I will always remember Adam rowing a boat over to the Tullis cabin and back. For some reason he did it with the boat facing backwards. It probably made the trip harder but he always made it. I hoped in the boat with him many times. Adam was one of the few people I've ever met that everytime you had a conversation with him you would be in a better mood afterwards. Now and forever every boat I see in McCall moving slow I will think of Adam. It was great catching up with him a few summers ago. I'm truly sad he is gone.

I loved my time with Adam up in McCall. I think I was technically "babysitting" but actually it was just playing and having a blast with Adam, Kate, and Joe. I remember laughing through endless board games while we inhaled red vines. I will miss Adam´s bright smile and effortless kindness. I feel lucky to have known him. My heart aches for you all. Sending so much love from Spain.
