In memory of
Kevin Sims
January 12, 2016
I am just now finding out about Adam. I was a freind of his in High School in Manassas, VA. Senior year, he and his family moved to Hampton,VA. I was introverted and not very social. It seemed he took me on as a project. He opened me to a more social world and to believe in myself. He had passions and encouraged me to believe in my passions. We lost touch once he moved, but I thought of him often. I did pursue my passions and his early support allowed me to do so. Over the years I wanted to catch up, but I never looked him up. I wish I had. He was a big David Bowie fan, so when I heard Bowie had passed I again thought of Adam. I told myself that I was going to look him up this time. I regret to hear about his passing. My thoughts and preys go out to his family and freinds (which were plenty). He was a great person with an enormous heart. God Bless. Your friend - Kevin Sims.

I was just trying to occupy my insomnia, looking up old friends when I read that Adam had passed. Jill and I were sailing compadres way back in the 80s and Adam was my first serious crush. So smart, funny and gentle- I would get so nervous around him but he was also so sweet to me. Truly original, even at 15. I'm sad to know your gone, Adam. All my love to Jill and your Mom and Dad. I, too, just learned of Adam's passing through my friend, Marley. I was so saddened to see this. Adam was such a sweet and gentle soul when I knew him at Wrightsville Beach in the early 90s, and from what I've read he continued to spread kindness to everyone he encountered. The world has lost a special person.

I am just now finding out about my old college friend. Adam and I spent time together at the beach in Wrightsville with great friends in the early 90s. He was a sweet and gentle man, always smiling. I was trying to find him online and found this instead. I am very sad and so sorry for his family and friends.

Oh Adam. Big Perm here. I gotta say that when I heard the news, it literally took my breath away. However, after the shock wore off, I spent most of the day laughing out loud at the memories you, Mel,Gil,and I made on water street. There are so many, but these stick out the most... first and fore most, hurricane Fran. From the waterway lodge, to all of us doing everything possible to that house to get back in there asap, to even a year later, telling each other when something was wrong, not to sweat it cause "it's a hurricane" always made us laugh. Let's not forget when we left you home alone, you would take out framed pictures in the house and replace them with pictures you had cut out of our magazines. The one that sticks out the most is where you had Gil boating with Kevin Costner and queen Elizabeth. And let's not forget the most memorable out going message on our answering machine that you left that read "this is Jack, Janet,Christy and I are not home, if this is Larry, meet us at the regal Bengal. These ate just a few things that I will never forget. I will always remember you wearing that wake and bake t-shirt, and how high you would get on our hanging swing out front. You will be forever missed Big Guy. Keep smiling, I know I will whenever I think about water street. Love you forever. Erin

Met Adam while travelling in Mexico in 2000 /2001. We surfed along the coast of Oaxaca for a couple of months. We had a fantastic time and he was the most generous, cool and helpful guys I could have hoped to meet. Extremely popular with the locals and travelers. Adam visited Australia a few years later and we only got a chance to catch up briefly. He hadn't lost his cool and warmth. This is such sad news. I will miss knowing he is out there catching waves. Condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. & Mrs. Priseler & Jill,
I am beyond shocked and saddened to hear about Adam. Unfortunately, I just heard about this tragedy this weekend. Adam was definitely a person who knew how to - and dared to - live life to the fullest. It has been many years since I last saw Adam, but he was definitely someone who left a lasting impression with his kind words, mild manner and indelible smile. He was an all around good guy.
And on a quirky note, I always think of peanut butter and pickle sandwiches when I think of Adam. He was always trying to get us to eat those after school! Not sure how he did it.
I wish you all peace and solace during this difficult time and hope love & memories will carry you through. I am thinking of you.
With deepest sympathies and love,
Tarina Keene

Aloha..so many wonderful tributes and memories-can see that we all knew and loved the same amazing gentle, kind and good man. One says: "he was just The Nicest Guy"- that nailed it! think I will make a shirt to remember him by "TNG Forever!" and hold his inspiration to simply do acts of kindess, whenever possible....Adam-mahalo nui for all the kind things you said that always made my day, the delightful political banter of a great liberal mind, the most ONO healthy treats, the smile that lit up a room (..and all the frickin' pokey cactus you donated to my yard & care). You did stellar work to help kupuna, and probably would never have imagined the depth and breathe of the sadness of so many who loved you. Your life made a difference; anyone who knew you was the better for it. ke aloha NO, A hui hou, from Mary..in the CFS gang.

I haven't seen Adam in over 10 years, but his humor, kindness, and most importantly his incredible sense of adventure crept into my thoughts many, many times. He was the kind of person that made a lasting impression on those around him. I always thought maybe we would cross paths again someday--possibly while visiting a foreign land. My deepest sympathies go out to the Priseler family during this difficult time.

I met Adam when he worked for me in Wrightsville Beach in the mid-90's. He was the "big brother" to all the other kids at Incredible Pizza. Adam was the one they all looked up to and turned to when they had a problem. I am not surprised that he continued to help others throughout his life. My thoughts are with his family and many friends.

I, too, am very sorry to hear this news. I've thought about Adam in the years since high school and wondered what he might be doing. I always imagined it was something cool, and, after reading these rememberances, I see I was right.
He was such a handsome guy with a warm smile and a personality to match. My deepest sympathies go out to Adam's family and his many dear friends.

My heart goes out to Jill and her family as they work through such a painful loss. I was shocked to hear of Adam's passing and was expecting to hear that it was a surfing accident or something fun that took Adam from us, not an unfortunate event such as this one. I met Jill in middle school and remember laying eyes on Adam when she invited me to her house one day...I thought he was so "cute" at the time. It was in high school when I needed an escort on the homecoming court that Adam volunteered, and my dream of dating Jill's handsome brother came true. I have many fond memories of Adam. For some reason, I remember eating pineapple with him and loved how he handled that thing when he cut it up. And I'll never forget sitting in the front seat of his VW bus at Grand View where we truly had a "grand view" as it felt like the moon was centered directly on us. I agree with everyone that Adam had a kind, gentle soul and a free spirit. It's so great to see that he lived out many of his dreams and checked off so many things on his bucket list before he left this world. He once told me that I coud do anything if I would just go out and do it, and obviously he was never afraid to just go out and do it!
You'll never be forgotten, Adam! On my flight home from Orlando on Saturday, I witnessed an ocean of beautiful clouds and could just imagine you riding them like waves...felt closer to you at that moment. I know you had an awesome reunion with Mike and that you two are living it up in heaven. You are loved by so many. Thank you for being there for me when I needed you most, my friend! I hope to see you on the other side someday, but not until I've lived a life half as full as yours.

I first met Adam when I was at UNCW. It has been years since we have seen each other or spoken. I am so saddened by the news and I have spent the last week reminiscing about all the wonderful memories that were created during my days in Wilmington and how many Adam was part of. We worked together at Incredible, played together at Stone St., traveled together- very memorable trips to ECU, his parents for an oyster roast, and Radford and planned together as he and Mel and Bob and I planned our big trip to Central America together. Although we ended up making that trip separately, somehow we did manage to catch up at the end in Nicaragua, just in time to celebrate Bob's birthday. You were a kind soul that touched so many with that awesome smile and zest for life. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those that are hurting, and especially to Jill and Adam's parents and nieces. Peace be with you Adam-

I first met Adam on the outer banks. Our lives continued to connect at UNCW and good old Stone Street. So many memories of seeing big A leaning over the rail at the top of Stone Street checking the surf. What a kind and gentle soul. My heart goes out to his family and close friends. My husband, Chris Weber, and I have been thinking and talking about Adam these past few days. May his spirit live on within everyone he touched. Love you Adam!

So sorry to hear about your loss. One of my most fond memories shared with Adam was a couple years ago. Shannon H and myself went out to Hawaii to visit him. We spent the first night sitting around talking story remembering good times over a few beers. The next day we dropped him at work and went for a surf. He opened his home, loaned us his car, and a giant board. One of the following days we spent surfing Makaha (right-hander) where we shared a mysto left that sucked dry at the end. Great Time Thanks, Brother. To my fellow Traveler, Surfer, and Friend the world was a sweeter place with you in it. I look forward to meeting up again one day. Until then pull-in for me.
Aloha,
