Adam Sherman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 23, 2024.
Adam R. Sherman, born on December 24, 1966, in Manhattan, NY, passed suddenly on June 16, 2024, at the age of 57 at his home in Port St. Lucie, FL. Adam dedicated his life to his family and career, leaving a lasting impact on both.

He was a devoted family man, known for his warm, welcoming personality and his knack for planning family activities, especially vacations like the family holiday to the rainforest of Costa Rica or riding ATV's in the country side. Adam's door was always open, reflecting his generous and loving nature. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan but also enjoyed attending Dolphins games with his family.

Professionally, Adam enjoyed a distinguished career with Costco starting in 1990 in Pompano, FL as a Cashier Assistant while a student at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, following graduation from South Broward High School in Hollywood, FL. He held several positions before moving to the Northeast as a Senior Manager in Waterbury and King of Prussia before being promoted to Assistant General Manager at Lancaster in 2001. He returned to the Southeast and held positions at Palm Beach Gardens, Royal Palm Beach and Boca Raton before being promoted to General Manager in the Northeast before returning to South Florida in 2020 as a General Manager.

Adam loved the opportunities, security and culture at Costco, greatly enhanced by his mentor Ed Wiegman, a man who influenced both Adam's personal and professional life.

Costco marked his passing with this: "Adam was a dedicated and devoted husband, a fiercely loving and exceptionally proud father, a travel enthusiast with his brother and a good friend to many in Costco. His bold personality and passion for living life to the fullest were some of Adam's best qualities."

Adam leaves behind his wife of eleven years, Stephanie, and his children: Joshua, David, and Elizabeth. He is survived by his brother Lloyd Sherman, sister-in-law Shannon, nephew Geoffrey all of Orlando as well as his first wife Lynn Sherman of Seattle, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Patricia Alaber Sherman.

His life was marked by his exuberant enthusiasm such as cheering Joshua on during an 80-yd touchdown run matching Josh's speed as he scrambled down the sidelines. Or David's memories of going shooting with his dad (David cherishes his first target sheet). And Beth's memory of Adam coming to see her race for the first time. After sharing a family dinner in a Mexican restaurant, Adam disappeared only to appear later back at the ranch leading the horse she had always wanted that he had trailered back from Arizona as a surprise. Adam found joy in riding ATVs out at River Ranch and spending time on movie outings as well as attending football games with his family. He attended services at both Calvary Chapel and Christ Fellowship near their home in Port St. Lucie, reflecting his community and spiritual engagements.

A celebration of Adam's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 28th, at the Moose Lodge. 3600 RCA Blvd. in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

His life was a testament to the love and dedication he had for his family and the Costco community, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

To say Adam will be missed is a vast understatement. When I think of him, I think of how his energy, enthusiasm and smile lit up every room he entered. Adam will always be remembered and missed both professionally and personally. Thank you for being a friend as well as my manager. My thoughts and prayers go out to Stephanie and the entire family.

Adam has been a constant for me for over half my life. He was someone I could call a friend without any hesitation. His passing has been such a shock to all of us and I know so many will miss him and my heart breaks for his beautiful family that has lost him. The most important lesson he taught me is to live my life. He was a Costco employee thru and thru and worked so hard everyday. But he never failed to live his life. He never failed his friends or his family. He lived and loved his life more then anyone I know. I will carry that in my heart always.

I met Adam when he transferred to the Delray location, we then worked in , Waterbury, and again in Boca. You learn a lot about a person in our line of work because we spend so much time together. Adam was passionate about his work he knew what he wanted and was willing to work hard to get there. After he became a family man that passion was present with his family, and he loved traveling, we also shared many debates on those cowboys he was so fond of lol. You will be missed young man, sleep in peace.

My first memory of Adam is when I was celebrating my 13th birthday. It was around 1982 my friends and I were at Frost park in Dania. He was walking by and I have no idea why I remember this, but he was wearing red pants and a red T-shirt. My friends were going nuts over him whistling to get his attention and as many of you know, he acknowledged us. We talked for a bit and found out he came down during the summers to visit his mom Patty. I´m not sure at what point but I introduced my brother to him and they became the best of friends. They used to go to all night skate and do their breakdancing. Years later, Steven and Adam joined a singles bowling league in 1991. They met my husband instead. I was introduced to him and that was probably 33 years ago. We haven´t seen him since his 50th birthday and it makes me realize that life is too short and you have to live every day to its fullest. You will be deeply missed. The picture that I found below was taken around 1987ish.

I met Adam and Joshua in 2009 when Joshua and I started kindergarten. Since the very first moment we all met we all became like family. We celebrated every birthday together. We did a history fair project together. We were always at each others houses. We grew up together. over the years Adam became a second dad to me. He never missed any ceremony Josh and I had. When my parents couldn´t make it due to work Adam made sure to step up and take my picture and tell me he was proud. He would even post on social media. He never failed to make me laugh. He was always there for me. Adam my family and I love you so much and we will miss you deeply.

My husband Kazi James had the privilege of working with Adam at Costco Sample Rd several years ago. As a customer, Adam would greet you and although Kazi transferred, he would always ask after him. I am thankful for Adam's support of Kazi and our family over the years. May the Lord be your comfort and strength. We are praying for you!

We met Adam in 1990 at Costco wholesale in Pompano Beach Florida . Shortly afterwards, Adam joined our family softball team and was always invited would to our family gatherings and picnics. After many transfers with Costco, we ran into Adam again at King of Prussia Pennsylvania. With no place to live Adam join us in our house until we eventually transferred away. We talked several times over the years would eventually catch back up at Manager meetings in Seattle. It was a pleasure having Adam as part of our family and a friend for such a very long time. Our hearts go out to Stephanie, his children and the rest of his family. we will keep you in our prayers.
