Addie Marie McKellar Baird -ATLANTA - Addie Marie McKellar Baird died Monday. She was born in Macon, the daughter of Professor and Mrs. I. E. McKellar. Besides her education in the schools of Bibb County, she studied piano and voice, attending recitals given by instrumentalists such as Fritz Kreisler, Ignace Paderewski and Sergei Rachmaninoff and vocalists Kirsten Flagstad, Lauritz Melchior and Lily Pons. -After receiving an A. B. degree from Wesleyan College, magna cum laude, Mrs. Baird taught in the public schools of Virginia. During World War II she worked, and also sang, for the USO. In the 1950's she returned to Bibb County to teach and later earned a masters degree in education at Mercer University. She resided in Macon until 1998, when she moved to Atlanta. -Mrs. Baird was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church, Phi Kappa Phi, Daughters of the American Revolution and Magna Charta Dames. -She is survived by a son, William Baird; a daughter, Marie Baird Patterson; a sister, Suelle McKellar Swartz; and several nieces and nephews. -The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made to the McKellar Scholarship Fund at Wesleyan College. -Funeral services will be private. -Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street has charge of arrangements.
