Addie B. Dennison

WHITNEYVILLE - Addie B. Dennison, 81, passed away peacefully Jan. 6, 2012, at Down East Community Hospital, Machias. She was born Oct. 24, 1930, in Whitneyville, daughter of Colby and Vivian (Hasty) Bridges. Addie worked tirelessly for many years as librarian at Whitneyville Library. She will be remembered by many people in the area that attended Hillgrove Elementary School for the story hour she conducted at Whitneyville Library in the "little red school house" on the hill. During her tenure as librarian, Addie chose many of the children's books that were added to the library. She was very proud of the children's collection, which became one of the most well rounded and extensively used in the area. When Addie wasn't busy with her duties as librarian, she enjoyed her hobbies of propagating African Violets and other exotic houseplants, and reading. Addie was predeceased by her husband, Harry Brown Dennison; and a son, Colby Edgar Dennison. She will always be lovingly remembered by two sisters, Dorothy Bodger of Whitneyville and Della B. Carroll of Hampden; three brothers, Charles A. Bridges and wife, Patricia, of Charlotte, Norman V. Reynolds and wife, Betty, of Whitneyville and Vinal C. Reynolds and wife, Joyce, of Whitneyville; many special nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Whitneyville Cemetery at a date and time to be announced.
