Dear Kayo & family,
We are so thankful to have known Adele's frienship over the years. We have many fond memories of spending time together on the beach. We watched Adele introduced Grace to the ocean, surf the waves with Emily & deliver fresh baked goodies to Andrew. We enjoyed our chats behind the windbreak on sunny October days & under the white umbrella on hot August days. Also, sharing the best part of the day, when the sun hangs low in the sky, that quiet lazy time before leaving the beach for the day. Our hearts will miss Adele forever but will have treasured memories of what a wonderful friend she was to us & our family.
Our prayers are with you.
Love Kevin & Meredith

I, too, am one of Dell's walking buddies in England. Come spring, we would be heading to the British Isles for adventure, fellowship and lots of laughter. We've had this ritual for many years and it won't be the same without Dell. With walking stick in hand and her trademark hat, Dell could (and did) out walk us all. I will cherish her friendship, beautiful smile, and love for English desserts! My sympathy to Kayo and to all her wonderful family.

Dear Kayo and family, Dell was a very special person of amazing vitality and energy. Her friendship and enthusiasm enriched the lives of everyone in our England bound hiking group since the early 90s. We shall miss her very much this year in Dorset, but she will be with us in all our hearts and minds, maybe especially at dessert time.
With Love,
Betty Henshaw

Dear Weightman Family,
We were all saddened to hear of Adele's passing. We all have such fond memories of her. Andrew remembers all the loaves of cinnamon raisin bread and "Ever Ready" muffins she made for him upon his arrival to OP. Emily remembers sleeping out under the stars at your house, and Grace will always remember her surfing lessons. As for the rest of us, we will always smile when we remember her infectious laughter. You are in our prayers.
With love, Joe, Libby, Andrew, Emily, & Grace Donahue

Jennifer, Kim and Emilie, I was surprised and saddened that you lost your Mom and Grandma. The stories you told were always ones of pride and love for the strong lady that she was. She walked not once but twice that I knew of in the cure for Breast Cancer, and I truly admired her for that.... She also must have been proud of you, her lovely girls.
Condolences,, from a fellow Guider and friend....

Dear Kayo and family
My last memory of Adele is walking the beach in Maine July 2007 carrying our groceries home and dodging the surf... This woman whom we all know as a force of nature had a loving way that reached out and touched everyone. I ran to keep up with her - my fellow Y-Not team member on the 60 kms walk for breast cancer.
Her flame will remain alive in my heart and an example for all of us to follow.

Dear Weightman (Carol) family,
I remember Mrs. Weightman fondly (I knew Dell since I was 12 and despite her insistence that I call her by her first name, she was always Mrs.Weightman to me). There were always healthy homemade muffins in the kitchen in Roxboro (contrasted with the occasional chocolate cake at the family dinner table where I learnt to eat fast or eat nothing at all). In order to burn it all off, Adel was always ready with some inspiration for us kids to stay fit. She made the Weightman household a home and her presence will be very missed by everyone who knew her. The Bailey family (Karen, Peter and soon to be Joshua) send their condolences.

Adele was a classmate, not only from kindergarten through grade 11, but 3 of 4 years in University. However in a tightly integrated community such as Dixie, semi isolated from the rest of Lachine, we shared much more than simply school activities and Adele was a major contributor to our group. As happens too often we loose track of each other as we complete our education and move onwards. It was with great delight that prior to and during our class reunion in Ottawa we were reaquainted and had a good chance to exchange our many happenings over the intervening years. Adele will not be forgotten...

My most sincere condolences to Adele’s family. I knew Adele from the YMCA. Her locker was right beside mine. A star shines brightly in heaven for her and she already has been adopted by all of us and many more to be our guardian angel. As is clear from these messages, Adele was loved by all she met - embracing everyone like her own. If we keep a small part of Adele with us and cherish her truly giving spirit, the world will be a better place, and many will be comforted. Bless you Adele. You will be in our hearts and souls forever.

I am another lady from the early morning gang at the Y. Adele will continue to be missed, as she has been these last few months. She was an inspiration to us all. She always had a big smile and an encouraging word. She was always happy with the exciting things going on in our lives. Always had a story to share and a hug if we needed it. She will be in our hearts forever. My sympathies to the family. May you be spared any further sorrow.

My memories go way back! I grew up across the street from Dell. We played all the childhood games together, shared secrets, compared our shapes as we started to develop, enjoyed wonderful birthday parties, and was in Dell and Kayo's wedding party. We went separate ways for many years, but renewed precious memories at Reunion time in 2002 and have been in contact since then. I will always remember Dell with my happy childhood growing up on 51st in Dixie. We were a real team back then!!! She was a wonderful friend.

Adele was one of the most amazing people that I have ever had the privilege to know. I met her at the YMCA a few years ago and I always marveled at her boundless energy and genuine caring for everyone in her path. She would always bring her home-made candies to share with us all, and would always make sure I had an extra little package because I loved them so much. She was a role model for so many people and will so be missed by all of her morning ladies. My heart goes out to you, her family

Our memories of Aunt Dell were always seeing her in and around a pool. And we laugh when we think of how she was always concerned if we had enough to eat! She was truly a great lady. We are so sorry for your loss Uncle Kayo and to our cousins you are in our thoughts always!

Dear Cathal and Family, I was saddened to read of the passing of Adele. I remember counting on her so many times when we were building a community at Ste Suzanne's. Adele was such a caring person and with so many wonderful ideas! Cathal, you now say goodbye here on earth to your wonderful companion. But someday she will be waiting for you at heaven's gates. To all you children, you have lost a wonderful mom, she truly was "Super Mom". Let her be your directing star. I will be with you in thought and prayers over these difficult days. May you rejoice in and with your Lord, good and faithful servant. Blessings, Rev. Malcolm Smith

WE ARE JUST SO HEART BROKEN, KAYO, TO HAVE RECEIVED YOUR E-MAIL ABOUT ADELE'S PASSING. SHE HAS BEEN ONE OF THE BRAVEST WOMEN WE HAVE EVER KNOWN. SHE HAS MEANT SO MUCH TO EVERY MEMBER OF OUR FAMILY, INCLUDING OUR GRANDCHILDREN WHO SHE SPOILED DAILY WHILE THEY WERE WITH US AT 6 COLBY AVENUE. OUR TIME IN OCEAN PARK IS NOT GOING TO BE THE SAME. KAYO, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO GET UP EARLY AND MAKE THE BREAKFAST SURPRISES THAT APPEARED AT OUR HOUSE, ACROSS THE STREET. AS USUAL, WE'LL HAVE TO BRIBE OUR GRANDCHILDREN TO SHARE THEM WITH THE SENIOR GENERATION. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND ALL OF YOUR WONDERFUL FAMILY.

There
is a time during the day on the beach when the sun is descending and
the crowds thin out and the kids are tired and the dog walkers and
their dogs come out and all who remain sit and stare lost in thought or
try to read those last few pages before heading up to the cottage...
They are the most peaceful, blissful moments... Mrs. Weightman will
always be there sitting, reading, looking up to smile, surrounded by
family, kids, love... We are very very sorry for your loss...

I am remembering all the good times at Lake Brennan; Mrs. Weightman's "stewp" (1/2 stew, 1/2 soup), seeing her paddling the lake in the blue canoe, her friendly smile and welcoming manner, and of course, Chris, Johnny, Carol and Pam. Thinking of you all at this sad time, Gail (Drennan) Manson and family

I met Dell in 1969 (as my future sister-in-law). The first thing I noticed about Dell were her unique hands. Hands to cook, hands to sew. Those hands were always directing traffic in her busy home but above all those hands helped others whether by putting a smile on someone's face or wrapped around someone giving comfort! Those hands will be missed but your memory will live on and on.

Dell was the best thing that ever happened to my brother! He found someone who could laugh hard, cry and motivate him when needed but most of all he found a soul mate. He and Dell were a production company and truly won "oscars" each year! Like all great stars, she will be truly missed but never forgotten.

I will truly miss Adele as she was a mother to me and many others. I met Adele at the Y.M.C.A many years ago and loved her and still will love her. I loved to hear about her trips and her family. She was always there for me and others as she was a very special person. She has so much energy and love to share with everyone even people she didn't know like making dam it dolls and raffling hand made quilts to make sure she got enough money raised to help the breast cancer walk that she would do. I can go on and on about this special woman. I feel honored that she was part of my life. My heart breaks with yours. She will be greatly missed.
