Adele Whitehead Morrison Hyer Wright 1917 ~ 2006 Our beloved "Grandma," Adele Whitehead Morrison Hyer Wright, age 89, passed away peacefully with family members gathered at her bedside Tuesday, October 3, 2006. Adele was born June 14, 1917, in Franklin, Idaho, to Peter Green and Martha Ella Morrison Whitehead. Adele married Leland William Morrison, a Franklin Elementary School teacher at the time, in the Salt Lake Temple August 18, 1937. They lived in Franklin on the farm most of their lives and raised four children, Mary Jo Morrison, SLC, UT; Dr. Leland Jed Morrison, Tampa, FL; Craig LaDell (Patty) Morrison, Snohomish, WA; and Martha Sue (Curt) Gray, SLC, UT. Leland was killed October 17, 1954, in a hunting accident leaving her to raise their children, ages 3-14. She finished her degree in education and taught for 20 years in the Fairview and Preston, ID, and the Lewiston and Hyde Park, UT, elementary schools. She married Merle G. Hyer in 1959, divorced. She then married Willis York Wright May 8, 1968, and they enjoyed traveling the world and the United States together. Willis died April 4, 1999. She moved to Parklane in SLC May 2000 to be closer to her family. Adele was a life-long member of the LDS Church wherein she held many positions in Primary, Sunday School, and Relief Society. She thoroughly enjoyed singing with the Frankllin Ward Choir. Currently she was a Relief Society visiting teacher and compassionate service sister. She enjoyed attending temples as she traveled. She recently served as a volunteer in the Salt Lake Temple as a telephone prayer roll operator. She also was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Lions, and American Legion, serving as president of the latter organization. Adele was a very well liked and appreciated by her many friends and family members. She especially enjoyed living at Parklane and enjoying their many activities, and travels. The past six months she enjoyed living with her daughter, Sue. She loved to travel, but mostly, she loved the annual Logan Christmas gatherings with family in Logan to the sounds of laughter, Santa's visits, and way too many presents and too much food each year! She is survived by her children; 14 grandchildren, Jodi Adele Morrison, Dr. Michael Jad (Kristin Heusser) Morrison, Dr. Victoria Lee Morrison, J. Ryan Morrison, L. Elizabeth Jane (Joseph) Recor, Dr. Stephen Craig Morrison, Bryan Douglas (Amy) Morrison, Kristy Lee (John) West, Angela Nicole (McKay) Shoell, Tami Sue (Jason) Coons, Alex Michael Morrison, Nicolas, Hans, and Katherine Michelle Gray. She had a very special love for Clare Elizabeth Keeler, almost five. She has nine great-grandchildren, Hailey and Cameron Morrison, Kayla and Ashley Morrison, Brendan and Emma West, Alexandra, Elle, and Lauren Recor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland William Morrison, and Willis York Wright; an infant son, Peter William Morrison, seven sisters and two brothers. Dear Family of Adele Wright,

I send my condolences on the passing of Mrs. Wright. I was privileged to be one of Mrs. Wright's fifth grade students at North Park Elementary School in North Logan. I enjoyed Mrs. Wright very much as a teacher. I appreciate the influence she had on me and my decision to become an elementary teacher myself. It is true that a teacher affects eternity. I am confident that she has influenced in a positive way many students and others with whom she was associated.

I was sorry to hear of Adele's passing. I am Willis' great niece (Leslie's granddaughter and Horace & IdaBelle's daughter). I got a better opportunity to get to know her when I moved into her ward in Logan. She was always so friendly at church functions and was always sharing her beautiful flowers. I remember one time when I had surgery in Salt Lake. She had a Dr. appointment in Salt Lake, and made a special point to come and see me before she went back home. The world is definitely better by her having been in it. I appreciate your having shared her with us. My condolences to you.
