Adelina Morales Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 24, 2025.
Adelina Morales passed peacefully in Miami, FL on September 5, 2025.

She is survived by her son, Enrique Morales II, his wife Luz Mary Martinez, her grandson Jonathan Morales, his wife Leslie Morales, and her great grandchildren, Maverick and Makena Morales. She was preceded in death by her loving husbands, Enrique Morales Sr. and Jose Cardenas.

Adelina was born on July 7, 1929 in Santiago, Cuba. She attended college near home and began a career as an educator. She met and married her first husband, Enrique Morales, in 1954 and gave birth to her only son, Enrique Morales II in 1955.

Following the radical impacts of the Cuban Revolution, Adelina and her young family bravely fled to the United States in 1962, leaving everything they owned behind. They settled in New York City, where she worked in various fields to help provide for her family. She retired from Merrill Lynch in 1982. She later relocated to Union City, New Jersey where she remained until moving to Florida in 2025 to be near family.

Her husband, Enrique sadly passed in 1984 at the early age of 57 due to cancer. Adelina later met, and remarried Jose Cardenas, a local music instructor. Together, they later opened and ran a music and dance school, sharing the arts with hundreds of children over the years until Jose passed away in 2013.

Adelina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, baseball, music, parties, and dancing. She was also a woman of faith, routinely attending church near her home. She lived a full life filled with love, friendship, and family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM September 26, 2025 at Flower Hill Cemetery. Flowers and condolences may be sent to 5433 Kennedy Blvd, North Bergen, NJ 07047. Donations can also be made to Molina Assisted Living Facility, 9830 SW 12 Terrace, Miami, FL 33174.

Dear Morales and Cardenas Families:
The Williams family send our most heart felt sympathies to you all. Curtis & I have such fond memories of visiting Adelina in NJ. One particular visit comes to mind when we, Rick, and all of the Morales cousins were together for supper. Adelina must have been cooking all day long because the food just kept coming and coming! And oh those Cuban pastries for dessert!! There was much love and laughter experienced and, even though Curtis and I didn´t speak a word of Spanish, and Rick had to act as interpreter, we had such fun!! Adelina had the gift of making anyone she met feel like family. Years later, when we had the opportunity to see her again, we had our young sons with us and she treated them just as lovingly as she did her beloved Jonathan. She had such a wonderful and fulfilling life and we are fortunate to have been able to experience some of it with her!! She was a Renaissance woman in her own right and leaves behind a family who is better for having loved, and having been loved, by her. Rest well Adelina, you deserve it.
Hugs to all,
Curtis, Anne, Sean & Kyle Williams
