Adrian Gaither III

MACON - Adrian Perry "A.P." Gaither III, 72, died April 12, 2010, in Macon. Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Macon Presbyterian Church under the direction of Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon. Burial will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9-10 a.m. at the church. Mr. Gaither was born Aug. 7, 1937, in Memphis, Tenn., to the late Adrian Perry Gaither Jr. and Julia Shephard Gaither. He graduated from Central High School in Memphis and received his bachelor's degree in English from Memphis State University and received his master's degree in English from Mississippi State University. He taught more than 35 years, including at Noxubee High School and East Mississippi Community College. Survivors include his wife, Julia Gaither; son, Adrian Perry Gaither IV, of Macon; daughters, Julia Broox Gaither Fox, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Emily Gaither Smith, of Birmingham, Ala., and three grandchildren.
