Adrian Hassall Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 13, 2013.
Adrian Malcolm Hassall
November 4, 1962 – March 3, 2013

Adrian Malcolm Hassall, 50, passed away surrounded by loved ones in his home in Sugar Land, Texas on March 3, 2013.
Born in Stoke-on-Trent in England, Adrian obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from the University of Aberystwyth, Wales, in 1983. Upon completion of his Master of Science at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1986, Adrian began his career as a diamond prospector working for DeBeers in Botswana. In 1989, Adrian took his first job in the oil industry in London, working for Occidental Petroleum and Amerada Hess as a well scout, before joining Halliburton's Aberdeen office in 1991. Shortly thereafter, Halliburton sent Adrian to Houston to join their Reservoir Description team, where he reviewed and worked on a number of projects in Ghana, Syria, Egypt, Venezuela, the Gulf of Mexico, and Russia. From the late nineties, Adrian contributed substantially to the success of a variety of teams and departments at Halliburton's Landmark Software and Services group in Houston and Lagos, Nigeria. Adrian's deep understanding of geoscience and technology, combined with his great people skills, made him a versatile professional and brought him success in roles that spanned account management, workflow consulting, interpretation, and team leadership.

Adrian was the colleague you always wanted on your team: He was inventive, hard working, inspirational, smart, empathetic, and fun. Adrian's adventurous and playful spirit led him to many corners of the world and made him popular in any crowd. He was a devoted father, a loving son, and a kind and generous English gentleman whose friendship was cherished by many. He loved a silly joke, a fine car, a soulful song. a game of darts, a good pint, and a brisk walk up a "proper" English hill.

Adrian was predeceased by his father, Malcolm George Hassall. He is survived by his mother, Marion Lois Hassall of Pant, Shropshire; his children, Oliver Warren Hassall and Lydia Marion Hassall and their mother Paige Bonnivier Hassall of Missouri City, Texas; and his fiancée, Maxine Helena Mosher, of Houston, Texas.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013, at Christ United Methodist Church, 3300 Austin Parkway, Sugar Land, Texas, at 3:00 pm. A light reception will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Adrian's name to the African Wildlife Fund (https://my.awf.org/honor-memorial) or Sunshine Kids (https://www.sunshinekids.org/donate/).

For my one and only son who will always be with me in spirit until we meet again.

I have carried out your last wishes, and see you and your Dad in my mind every time I look at Rodney's Pillar from my lounge window.

I miss you so very much and will never stop loving you.

such a lovely person. I remember you helping me with my high school math, and taking the time to have a conversation with me and Sean when were young, in a room full of adult conversation we couldn't interact with, then doing the same with my son years later.
A true gentle soul.Rest In Peace Adrian.

A SALUTE TO ADRIAN

Adrian Hassall was a dear friend of mine.
He was my boss for a period of time

The best years I had were working with him
The team was great and he was a GEM

He treated me fairly all of the time
And often gave me a piece of the dime

Immensely respected by me and others
You could say he was one of my Brothers

He knew the business of Oil & Gas
He was definitely top of the class

He was always a trusted advisor
Not many others were more wiser

Above all - Adrian loved life
His family and soon to be wife

His spirit of kindness and adventure
Will live on beyond his tenure

In fond memory -

Sincerely,
Angela Finney

As a newcomer to Landmark, I had the benefit of Adrian's intelligence and team spirit as a member of my team for all too brief a period. But in that time I also witnessed his strength and grace. From all of his co-workers, we send our prayers for comfort to Adrian's family and loved ones. We are still benefiting from his work today. My prayers are with you all. Adrian was always the favorite speaker during the Austin Parkway Elementary Career Day throughout the years. His Indiana Jones outfit and his vivacious personality made his presentations come alive for the students. Everyone could tell how much he enjoyed speaking to the classes!
Paige, Oliver and Lydia... you were a blessing to Adrian! May your happy memories comfort you in the coming weeks and months.
Love,

Betty /Rodger Hanlon

In memorium:

A Psalm of Life
by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

What the Heart of the Young Man Said to the Psalmist

Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
"Life is but an empty dream!"
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.

Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
"Dust thou art, to dust returnest,"
Was not spoken of the soul.

Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
Is our destined end or way;
But to act, that each to-morrow
Finds us farther than to-day.

Art is long, and Time is fleeting,
And our hearts, though stout and brave,
Still, like muffled drums, are beating
Funeral marches to the grave.

In the world's broad field of battle,
In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle!
Be a hero in the strife!

Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant!
Let the dead Past bury its dead!
Act,--act in the living Present!
Heart within, and God o'erhead!

Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time;

Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o'er life's solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.

Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing
Learn to labor and to wait.
