Mr. Adrian Vera was a significant influence in my life. I met him through my advisor Professor John Phillips in 2001 as a senior at University of the Pacific (UOP). He selected me as a recipient for a scholarship on behalf of the San Joaquin County Latino Peace Officer Association. A titan in the field of Criminal Justice, Mr. Vera was a Special Agent (ret.) for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He was also a Military Veteran, a college football star (UOP class of 59, J.D. from McGeorge School of Law in 62) and a beacon in the Mexican-American Community in his native Stockton, CA. I leaned on him a lot throughout the years for general advice, especially while with the NYPD. After finishing boot camp in 2003, he persuaded me to attend graduate school at John Jay College instead of Officer Candidate School in the Marine Corps. Tough it out and be poor grad student a few more years, Shamus...you can always eat ramen to save yourself some of Uncle Sams G.I. Bill money. I will miss him dearly. Godspeed, Sir. And may your soul rest in eternal peace. ❤

It is with great sadness to know that my nephew, Adrian is gone! I have many fond memories of Adrian while growing up as neighbors, during our childhood. I was like a big brother to Adrian. One of my memorable events with Adrian, was when I took him to his first college football game at College of the Pacific. As we all know, Adrian went on to play football for UOP.
Rest in peace my nephew.
My deepest condolences to the Vera family.

Adrian, a man I highly respect. We came from the same neighborhood ( Goat Valley ).
Played lots of golf and had lots of fun with him. My family loved and respected him very much.

I'm so sorry to hear that Adrian is gone. We go all the way back to Jr. High School at Franklin Jr. High (class of 53) where we both played football. I was the center, and Adrian was the fullback. Every time the play (30 wedge) was called, I knew that big ole Adrian was going right over my back. We had fun and he is going to be missed by many. Rest in peace old friend.

We were very saddened by our cousin Adrian's passing. Personally I was very proud that he was one of the first cousins to go to a University & setting a great example for our family. It was good to see him at my father (Ray T. Venegas) 80th Birthday.
Please accept our deepest condolences.
