I learned about Ady after watching a PBS documentary. It was nothing less than spectacular. I was SO impressed by his "credentials", but moreso by his determination and drive, even being sick with ALS. Few people would even attempt the arduous trek he did! I sent Ady an email with my heartfelt thanks for all he did advocating for ALL people needing healthcare or other issues. To my surprise, though he was at this point unable to speak without his voice automated computer communication, he responded to me within 24 hours personally! I was floored! I was a hospital nurse and am now permanently disabled, and Ady has just been a source of inspiration. My best friend who's also a nurse is newly dealing with her stepfather navigating thru new but quickly progressing ALS and she and I have used Ady's strength and experience to help navigate the stormy waters with Grace and dignity. Ady is so inspiring. I'm so glad I came across his story. I hope more hear his legacy. He's impacted my life and I'll "never give up" because he certainly didn't, not for himself, his family, or others!

Such a dedicated worker for such a great cause. A true champion for the rights of others, a fighter to the end. May God give strength and comfort to the Barkan family, so very sorry for your loss.

Every time I saw Ady on TV, I took the time to stop and listen. He was a courageous man and a wonderful advocate. A life cut short. I'm am so sad he's gone. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
