ALVEBERG, Agnes Fullerton
Agnes was born on September 9, 1920 in Glasglow, Scotland, the child of James and Isabella Gillespie. She passed away on January 11, 2017 at Creekside Landing. She immigrated to Canada at age 5 and the family settled in Calgary. Agnes graduated from Crescent Heights High School and later worked as a telephone operator. In 1940, she met Clifford and they were married in September of 1941. They celebrated 64 years together. In 1948, Agnes and Cliff moved to BC, settling in New Westminster where she worked again as a telephone operator. Another move to Cloverdale, BC where she worked for Overwaitea Foods, Mosiers Drugs, and at Cliff's Saddlery store in Langley. Agnes and Cliff became avid square dancers, which continued on after their move to Vernon in 1970. She loved crocheting, knitting, sewing and gardening. Agnes worked part-time at McKay's Drug Store and Sears. They loved to travel in their RV to various square dance events in BC and Western USA. After Cliff passed away, Agnes moved to Coldstream Meadows and for the last 8 years she resided at Creekside Landing. Agnes is survived by her son, Jim (Lydia); grandson, Chris (Gina); great-grandsons, Matt, Josh, and Nicholas; nephew, Terry; and nieces, Cheryl and Brenda; all of Alberta. She was predeceased by her husband, Cliff, and grandson, Scott. A private family service will be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to make memorial contributions in memory of Agnes may do so to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation, 2101-32nd Street, Vernon, BC V1T 5L2. Thank you to Michelle Dallyn and Irene Tullett for their weekly visits which brightened Mom's days. "Time and Tide wait for no man."
